Indian captain Virat Kohli is currently not running in good time with the bat. The ongoing New Zealand tour is one of the worst tour experiences in his international career, and it can even finish as the worst tour of his international career.
In the ongoing New Zealand tour, Virat Kohli-led India have played five-match T20I series (won by 5-0), three-match ODI series (lost by 3-0) and two-match Test series (trailing by 1-0 at the start of the second Test). Except for the last game of the five-match T20I series at Mount Maunganui, Virat Kohli has played all other matches in this tour.
While Virat Kohli has already batted in 10 innings (nine matches) of the ongoing New Zealand tour, the right-handed batsman has scored 204 runs with an average of 20.40. Kohli started this tour with 45 runs, while he hit a half-century (51) in the opening game of the ODI series. But apart from scoring another 38 runs in the Hamilton T20I match, Kohli has failed to reach the 20-run mark in other seven innings of this tour.

In the last five innings of this New Zealand tour, Virat Kohli has scored 15, 9, 2, 19 and 3 runs respectively. While the inexperienced Indian team is depended on his batting in the ongoing New Zealand tour, his weak batting performances are putting the visiting team into more trouble.

Before this tour, Virat Kohli’s least international runs on a full tour (only including those tours where he played all three formats) was 254 during India tour of England in 2014. It was known as one of the worst overseas tours for Kohli in his international career.

While Virat Kohli can play only one more Test innings in the ongoing New Zealand tour, he is very close to breaking the record of his worst performances in a full international tour. To not facing this embarrassment, the right-handed batsman must have to score at least 51 runs during India’s second innings of the ongoing Christchurch Test.
