Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Urge Fans to Support PM Modi’s Initiative on April 5

The Coronavirus pandemic has created social distance among people to curb the spread of the virus. In such a situation, to show that Indians stand together to combat the deadly virus, PM Modi had urged people to switch off electric lights for nine minutes and light candles or diyas or mobile flashlights on the 5th April (Sunday) at 9:000 PM for nine minutes. Indian captain and vice-captain, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have also urged the fans to support PM Narendra Modi’s initiative.

Kohli and Rohit are effectively using social media to create awareness and urging everyone to follow precautionary measures.

Taking to Twitter, the duo expressed that like Indian fans support the cricketers in the stadium, they should also reflect similar support to people who are affected by the disease.

Virat Kohli wrote: “The power of the stadium is in its fans. The spirit of India is in its people. Tonight at 9 pm for 9min Let’s show the world, we stand as ONE. Let’s show our Health Warriors, We stand behind them. Team India – IGNITED.”

Rohit Sharma said that it is a Test match and Team India should win this game with unity.

Earlier, PM Modi has asked Indians to observe Janata Curfew on March 22. At that time, he had urged people to express their gratitude to healthcare workers by clapping and clanking utensils at 5 PM.  It had got full support from Indian cricketers. And now he asked to show support the people who have lost hopes amid the darkness caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
