Indian captain Virat Kohli congratulated Sourav Ganguly for becoming the new President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They will meet soon after Ganguly will take the position officially.
BCCI will organise the AGM on 23rd October. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will also officially take the BCCI President post on that day. He is ready to take this new role unanimously.
Indian captain Virat Kohli has already congratulated Sourav Ganguly. After the conclusion of the Ranchi Test against South Africa, Kohli claimed that he would be ready to meet the new BCCI President once he tells him. Kohli has further clarified that Ganguly hasn’t asked about MS Dhoni‘s future.
The Indian captain said, “I congratulated him [Sourav Ganguly]. It’s great that he has become BCCI president. He will get in touch with me when he has to. I will go meet him when he tells me to. He has not spoken to me about that (MS Dhoni’s future). I am sure.”
Former World Cup-winning Indian captain MS Dhoni is now the centre of the talking point. Since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-final defeat against New Zealand, Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match yet.
Dhoni is silence about his cricket future. This silence is raising the speculation of his international retirement. However, the BCCI has recently clarified that Dhoni has no immediate plan to retire from international cricket.
Sourav Ganguly is ready to talk with Virat Kohli
Some media reports are also claiming that Dhoni is in India’s plan for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. Australia will host this tournament from 18th October to 15th November 2019.
Meanwhile, after officially becoming the BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly will soon meet the Indian captain. Earlier, Ganguly claimed that they would meet on 24th October during the selection committee meeting.
Ganguly had told the media, “I will meet him on October 24th. I will talk to him like a BCCI president talks to the captain. He is the captain and he can take a call,”
Many believe that during this early meeting with the Indian captain, Ganguly may talk about Dhoni’s future as the new BCCI President is unaware of this.
Ganguly has already claimed that he will find out the selectors’ opinion on MS Dhoni. The new BCCI President also wants to talk with Dhoni directly.
