Indian captain Virat Kohli has recently revealed what was he thinking during the tense moment of the semi-final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is a passionate cricketer. Since the beginning of his career, his hunger for runs and victories are growing up with the time progress. This hunger has evolved him as one of the greatest cricketers in international cricket history.

Since Virat Kohli took the captaincy role of the national team, the Indian national cricket team has grown up as the dominating side. Though he is still waiting for his first ICC trophy or multinational trophy, it can’t decrease his other captaincy success.

The Indian team has earned huge success in Test cricket under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Since October 2016, Kohli-led India are maintaining the no.1-position in the ICC Test rankings. Last January, his team became the first Indian side to win a Test series in Australia.

While Virat Kohli-led India were the runners-up in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was very important for his side. Though India impressed in that tournament, his team just failed to win the semi-final against New Zealand.

Kohli told India Today, “Do I get affected by failures. Yes, I do. Everyone does. I know my team would need me. I had the feeling so strong in my heart that I am going to come not out and make India go through that tough phase [in the semi-final]. But then again, maybe that was my ego talking because how can you predict something like that? You can only have a strong feeling, or maybe it was a strong desire to do something like that.”

Chasing down the 240 runs target in that semi-final, India lost their first three wickets in just five runs, including Virat Kohli’s dismissal for just one run. Though Indian middle-orders fought very hard, especially Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, India suffered an 18-run defeat at the end of that match.

Expectedly, Virat Kohli has clarified that he hates losing. He is desperate to set a legacy which can provide a wider destination to the future generation.

Kohli said, “I hate losing. I don’t want to walk out and say I could have done this. When I step out on the field, it’s a privilege. When I walk out, I want to have zero energy. We want to leave behind a legacy that future cricketers will say we want to play like that.”
