Virat Kohli Will Be Dominant Against Australia In Upcoming Series – Matthew Hayden
During recent India’s tour of Australia, the Aussie pacer Jhye Richardson dominated over the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. However, the former Australian opener Matthew Hayden believes that Virat Kohli will dominate over the young Australian pace bowler in the upcoming series.
In last January, India played a three-match ODI series against the host Australia that India won by 2-1. Though Virat Kohli played some excellent cricket in that series, the young Australian pacer Jhye Richardson troubled him very much. In all those three matches, Jhye Richardson dismissed the Indian skipper.
Virat Kohli scored 153 runs in that series with an average of 51.00. Meanwhile, the young pace bowler was the highest wicket-taker (six wickets) for Australia in that series.
Now, Australia will play a two-match T20I series and five-match ODI series against the host side India. The series will be played from 24 February to 13 March. While the no.1 ODI ranked batsman Virat Kohli is returning the national team, Matthew Hayden believes that the Indian skipper will dominate in the home venues. The former Aussie opener thinks Virat Kohli’s experience will beat the young and inexperienced Jhye Richardson.
Matthew Hayden recently said according to TOI, “In the recent series (in Australia), Virat did have some trouble against Richardson, who played beautifully, taking Virat’s wicket thrice. But, I believe it will be a very different scenario this time around. Jhye is young player, not with a lot of experience of playing cricket in India, so I believe Virat will be dominant in this one.”
Rohit Sharma vs Jason Behrendorff
On the other hand, Matthew Hayden also spoke about the potential clashes between Rohit Sharma and Jason Behrendorff. The left-arm Aussie pacer Jason Behrendorff has also challenged Rohit Sharma during the recent limited-overs series in Australia. Till the date, they have met six times in international cricket, and Jason Behrendorff dismissed Rohit Sharma twice.
Matthew Hayden believes the tall left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff will put a serious challenge to Rohit Sharma.
Talking about the 28-year-old pacer, Matthew Hayden quoted, “is tall, has good pace and bowls into the wicket.”
However, Matthew Hayden also feels that Rohit Sharma is on top form in the ODI cricket and it will be not easy for Jason Behrendorff to succeed against Rohit Sharma in the upcoming series.
