VVS Laxman has expressed shock to see Rohit Sharma’s name missing in the Wisden Cricketers of  2019’s list. He is not convinced with the selection of cricketers in the elite list. The Wisden named five cricketers that are England’s Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes, Australia’s Pat Cummins, Marnus Labuschagne and Ellyse Perry and South African cricketer Simon Harmer.

Indian former batsman Laxman mentioned that he was disappointed to see Rohit’s name from the list. India’s vice-captain had a great last year. In the 2019 World Cup, he was the leading scorer with registering five centuries. Laxman added that his century against Pakistan and South Africa was the most crucial knocks in the mega event, so he deserved to be the part of the illustrious list.

VVS Laxman Surprised and Shocked To See Rohit Sharma’s name missing:

“I think anyone who follows the game of cricket will be surprised and shocked not to see Rohit Sharma’s name in those five players list. The Ashes is an important series, the World Cup is bigger than Ashes. And someone who has scored five hundred; remember the first hundred was on a tough wicket in Southampton against South Africa and none of the other batsmen got runs. And he played another important knock against Pakistan. I am really shocked and surprised, and every cricketer will be shocked and surprised by this announcement from Wisden.” Laxman said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

England allrounder Ben Stokes proved to be the most beneficial player for his team. His contribution led England to lift the first World Cup title last year.

Furthermore, his skills in the Test series against Australia (Ashes) helped the team to level up the series. On the other hand, Australia’s women cricketer Ellyse Perry won her second award after 2016, becoming the second women’s cricketer to do so. The pacer Pat Cummins was also awarded for his outstanding performance in the Ashes which helped Australians to retain Ashes.
