Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has revealed five best ever batsmen in ranking order. Akram picked former legendary batsman, Sir Viv Richards, in the first place. Richards is regarded as one of the best ever batsmen and he played a key role in revolutionizing the game. The flamboyant right-hander scored 8540 runs in 121 Test matches at an impressive average of 50.24 and a blistering strike rate of 86.07.
Richards was known to take the attack on the opposition bowlers from the word go and amassed 6721 runs in 187 ODI matches at an average of 47 and a staggering strike rate of 90.2.
Wasim Akram picks world-class batsmen in his list
Second on Wasim Akram’s list is former New Zealand legend, Martin Crowe. The former right-hander is regarded as one of the best batsmen produced by New Zealand. The Auckland born scored 5444 runs in 77 Test matches at an average of 45.37. Crowe accumulated 4704 runs in 143 ODI matches at an average of 38.24.
Wasim Akram picked former legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara at the third place. Lara was one of the best in the business and he was well known for his stylish strokeplay. The southpaw had a high backlist and he was a treat to the eyes.
The left-hander scored 11953 runs in 131 Test matches at an average of 52.89 whereas the flamboyant batsman gathered 10405 runs in 299 ODI matches 40.17. Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in a Test match as he scored 400 against England.
Wasim Akram’s former teammate Inzamam-ul-Haq takes the fourth place in the list. Inzamam was known for his solid game and he was the pillar of Pakistan’s batting line-up. The right-hander had a solid defense and he went on to have great success. Inzamam scored 8830 runs in 120 Test matches whereas he amassed 11739 runs in 378 ODI matches.
Last on Wasim Akram’s list of best batsmen is Sachin Tendulkar. The former Indian legend is one of the best batters of all-time. Sachin is the highest run-getter in the Test and ODI format and scored 100 centuries in his illustrious career. The right-hander scored 18424 runs in 463 ODIs whereas he racked up 15921 runs in 200 Test matches.
