Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has recently picked the best cricketing brain among the current players of all team.
Wasim Jaffer, who recently retired from the game, was one of the greatest batsmen in Indian cricket history. Though his international career didn’t run for a long period as he played 31 Tests and two ODIs from 2000 to 2008, he is the only batsman to score 10,000+ runs in Ranji Trophy history.
At the end of his career, he finished as the fifth most run-scorer in Indian first-class cricket history.
On Saturday (28th March), Jaffer was carrying out a Q&A session on his official Twitter account. During that session, a fan asked him his choice for the best cricketing brain of the current players of all team.
Jaffer replied Rohit Sharma, who is the vice-captain of the Indian limited-overs cricket and captain of the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians (MI).

Wasim Jaffer and Rohit Sharma played together for Mumbai
This choice is not very much shocking. Apart from Rohit’s successful journey as a top-class batsman, Jaffer also knows Rohit very closely due to playing together for the domestic team Mumbai for a long time.
While Virat Kohli is leading the Indian team in every format, Rohit is playing the vice-captain roles in the ODI and T20I formats. Under Rohit’s captaincy (in the absence of Kohli), India won the Nidahas Trophy 2018 and Asia Cup 2018 respectively.
Moreover, Rohit is currently the most successful captain in IPL history as his team Mumbai Indians have won all the four IPL trophies under his captaincy (2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019).
Also, Rohit-led Mumbai Indians won the Champions League T20 2013.
Observing the massive success of the captain Rohit Sharma, some experts have also raised their voices in support of spilt captaincies in the national team for different formats.
However, the board, selectors and the team management haven’t entertained this point of view yet.
Besides, Jaffer has also revealed that his best batsman in this generation is the Indian captain Virat Kohli.
