Day-by-day Wasim Jaffer is setting a new milestone in Indian domestic cricket history. Now, the 41-year-old becomes the first batsman to score 12,000 runs in Ranji Trophy history.

Former Mumbai star cricketer is now serving for Vidarbha since 2015. In the last two seasons, Vidarbha were the dominating side in domestic first-class cricket as they won the last two Ranji Trophies as well as Irani Trophies. Though they are struggling in this season, Wasim Jaffer is in his familiar record-breaking mood.

The Round Eight phase of Group Stage in Ranji Trophy 2019/20 started on Tuesday (4th February), where Group A teams Vidarbha and Kerala are playing at Nagpur. On the day one of this match, Wasim Jaffer scored 57 runs off 149 balls (7 fours and only sixer) and became the first cricketer to score 12,000 runs in Ranji Trophy career.

After this latest innings, the right-handed batsman Jaffer has scored 12,038 runs in Ranji Trophy career. In November 2018, at the beginning of the previous Ranji Trophy season, Jaffer became the first cricketer to score 11,000 runs in Ranji Trophy career.

In fact, Wasim Jaffer is the only man till the date to score 10,000 runs in Ranji Trophy history. Former cricketer Amol Muzumdar is behind of Jaffer in this list with 9,202 runs in Ranji Trophy career.

Wasim Jaffer has scored 19,000+ runs in the first-class career

After playing the 421st first-class innings, Wasim Jaffer has scored 19,410 runs (average 50.68). The right-handed batsman has already scored 57 centuries and 91 half-centuries in the first-class career. However, in this season, Jaffer is not in his familiar form with the bat as he has scored 263 runs in nine innings with an average of 29.22, including three half-centuries. He also played 31 Tests and two ODIs for India from 2000 to 2008.

Coming back to the ongoing match against Kerala, Vidarbha scored 239/6 at the stumps on day one. Ganesh Satish (58) also scored a half-century while Siddhesh Wath scored 43 runs.

Among the Kerala bowlers, MD Nidheesh (3/53) took three wickets, and Nedumankuzhy Basil (2/39) managed to pick up two wickets.
