Team India, on Monday, finally booked their place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship (ICC WTC) after Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand in the first Test of their two-match series. Sri Lanka needed to win both the games to have any hopes of making it to the final.
However, the Islanders could not register the win and are now knocked out of the WTC final race. India will now take on Australia in the much-anticipated final later this year. The result of the ongoing Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad won’t be making any difference to the ICC WTC Points Table now.
Australia and India will now finish the ongoing WTC cycle as the top-ranked teams. Talking about the Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, the latter crossed the finishing line on the very last ball of the match. Captain Kane Williamson scored a brilliant unbeaten century to help New Zealand chase down 285 and beat the Islanders by 2 wickets.

Virat Kohli congratulates his teammates:
As India booked their place in the final of ICC WTC final following Sri Lanka’s failure to win against New Zealand, Virat Kohli came up with a brilliant gesture. Soon after realising that the final spot has been nailed down by the team, the former India skipper was seen congratulating each one of his teammates.
The heartwarming incident took place right when Indian players came out on the field for the second session of the final day’s action in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli was seen shaking each of his teammate’s hands as he congratulated them.
Here is a clip of the moment:
