Cameron Green was having a forgettable outing in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India before he redeemed himself by taking a stunning catch to send back a well-set Ajinkya Rahane.
The Australia allrounder failed to perform well with the bat and was dismissed for just 6 by Mohammed Shami. With the ball, he started well by taking the big wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara on day two of the Test while nearly conceding 4 runs an over in the 11 overs he bowled.
And on the ongoing third day of the Test at the Oval, he dropped Shardul Thakur at a crucial time. After KS Bharat was dismissed early in the first session, Australia would have further strengthened their grip on the game but Cameron Green failed to hold on to an easy catch at gully.
Thakur was batting on just 8 at that time when Pat Cummins made him edge a ball towards the gully region. The ball headed straight to Cameron Green but he failed to grab it. He did try to take it on the rebound but failed again. The drop turned out to be very costly for Australia as Ajinkya Rahane and Thakur shared 109 runs for the 7th wicket.
Cameron Green takes stunning catch:
Before the duo could inflict more damage on Australia, Cameron Green came up with a stunning effort at gully to send back Rahane for 89. Incidentally, it was Cummins who was the bowler on this occasion. It was a short of length delivery outside off from the Australia skipper and Rahane decided to punch it away.
However, he could only edge the ball. The ball was looking set to fly past Green at gully but the allrounder made a stunning dive and caught the ball with one hand to send back Rahane.
