Watch: Harmanpreet Kaur grab a stunning one-handed catch at Long-off

The ongoing tri-nation T20I series between the women’s team of Australia, England, and India has been largely forgettable for Harmanpreet Kaur and co., before their second match against England.

India’s women’s team could not open their account in the three matches played in the tournament. As a result, the hosts were knocked out of the competition with Australia and England scheduled to compete in the finals.

The stakes were high in the final league match of the tri-series as India looked to salvage their pride against a side which clinched victory from the jaws of defeat at the recent World Cup.

Kaur, herself, has not been able to register big knocks for her side while captaining. Therefore, a spirited performance from Harmanpreet is what the doctor ordered for the side.

From 59-1, England’s inning witnessed a massive turnaround to be reduced to 96-7. As a result, Indians tried to wrap up the England inning soon after smelling blood.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, posted at long-off, grabbed on to beauty, running in front of the sight screen, covering massive ground, diving forward and completing a one-handed catch.

The catch reminded of the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, and Hardik Pandya, who have pulled out some memorable catches in that position.

By the end of the day, Harmanpreet could take a sigh of relief after opening their account in the tournament.

India went on to win the final match of the league stage by defeating England by eight wickets. It was Harmanpreet Kaur who was present in the middle to finish the job for her side.

It was a great effort by us in the field and that is what we spoke about; glad to have executed it well. I always enjoy my fielding, but everyone contributed today,” said Kaur during the post-match presentation.
