Indian rookie all-rounder Shivam Dube let his bat do the talking against the West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard. Dube ran two in Pollard’s over and made little contact with the bowler while turning back for the second. But, Pollard was not impressed by the same and stared back at the young batsman. Dube also put his hands up and gave it back to Pollard.

Subsequently, Pollard bowled a short-pitched ball that Dube smashed in the stands. Thus, the greenhorn batsman had his revenge against Pollard. Meanwhile, Shivam Dube was promoted to number three in the second T20I at Thiruvanthapuram and he made the most of the opportunity.

Dube scored his maiden T20I fifty.

In fact, the southpaw batsman was not able to find his timing in the initial phase of his innings. However, as Dube smashed for a couple of sixes against Kieron Pollard, he got back his confidence. The left-hander completed his maiden T20I fifty off 27 balls.

The young batsman played meticulously and pulled brilliantly on the leg-side. The left-hander scored 54 runs from 30 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes as he batted at the top of his game.

Meanwhile, Shivam was not able to impress with the bat till now and had made his debut in the series against Bangladesh. However, the Mumbai batsman was able to grab his opportunity in the second T20I as he was given a promotion in the batting order.

Dube said in the mid-innings break, “It was the plan from the team (batting at 3), they backed me, there was some pressure on me, but happy that it came off well. We knew the spinners would bowl and I would bat at that time. Power is the strength of mine, I just need to play the proper shots. It was difficult at the start, the ball wasn’t coming on, I decided to time the shots instead of going hard on the ball”.
