Yuvraj Singh is getting ready to return to the IPL in the upcoming season. Recently, during his practice for his new IPL team, the left-handed batsman tried to play a special reputed shot.
The Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was once a superstar in the limited-overs formats. He had some glorious periods both with the bat and ball. The all-rounder played huge roles for the national team to win the 2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. He even won the Player of the Tournament award during the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. And of course, no Indian can forget his six sixes in an over to the English pacer Stuart Broad during a crucial match of 2007 ICC World T20.
However, the 37-year-old all-rounder is now struggling to perform consistently. Even in domestic cricket, he has faced hard luck continuously in the last few years. But, he has kept the powerful fighting spirit by continuing the never give up attitude.
Yuvraj Singh’s IPL career
Earlier, Yuvraj Singh was a top performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) too. However, it has been faded away in recent past years.
Playing from the inaugural IPL season, Yuvraj Singh has played 128 IPL matches. The left-handed batsman has scored 2,652 runs in his IPL career with an average of 24.78. He has scored 12 half-centuries, including the best knock of 83 runs.
On the other hand, the left-arm spinner has picked up 36 wickets with an average of 29.91. He has two IPL hat-tricks, both in IPL 2009 when he was playing for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
However, in the last some years, Yuvraj Singh struggled hugely. In the previous year (IPL 2018), he massively failed to perform. While he returned to his old team KXIP, he played only eight matches in IPL 2018 where he scored 65 runs with an average of just 10.83.
So, expectedly, KXIP decided to release him ahead of the 2019 IPL Auction. In the 2019 IPL Auction, many franchises were not showing any interest on Yuvraj Singh. Finally, during the first recall round, Mumbai Indians (MI) bought him for his base price (INR 1 crore).
Yuvraj Singh is getting ready for the new season
In the ongoing domestic season, Yuvraj Singh once again faced a difficult period. He hardly played any big innings in this domestic season. Playing in all the formats in this season, Yuvraj Singh scored only one half-century, which was the 96 runs for Punjab against Railways in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A tournament).
After completion his domestic season, Yuvraj Singh has begun his preparation for the upcoming IPL season. He is getting ready to play for his new IPL team Mumbai Indians where he has got the no.12 jersey.
Recently, StumpMic Cricket has come out with a video where Yuvraj Singh was practising the helicopter shot. MS Dhoni has made this shot very famous while Yuvraj Singh has rarely played this shot in international cricket.
