IPL 2018: We Are Hoping to Set Up Our Team for the Next Season, Says Shreyas Iyer

Yet another forgettable day bagged by Delhi Daredevils (DD) camp led by Shreyas Iyer. But, the Under-19 stars would cherish this day for a long time. The likes of Abhishek Sharma and Sandeep Lamichanne, in particular, looked positive for Delhi in their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

However, while trying hard to make a progress in the tourney, Delhi fell just short against a quality performance from visitors.

I don’t feel the pressure of captaincy at all:  Iyer

Daredevils skipper, Iyer was happy with the target on the board, especially, after the initial collapse.

However, he was quick in admitting that they failed to deliver the goods in defending the tally.

Speaking on the personal front, Iyer added that he doesn’t feel any pressure of captaincy whatsoever.

‘With the kind of start, we got, getting to 180 I thought was more than enough. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to defend this as well; we aren’t executing the plans we form in the dressing room. I don’t feel the pressure of captaincy at all. Today was one of those bad days when I couldn’t time the ball well at all. The only thing you can do to handle pressure is by scoring regularly,” Iyer said during a presentation.

The promising youngster Iyer remarked he has been following the seniors and the team is looking forward to pushing for a strong case in the next edition of the IPL.

”I have a few coaches and mentors whose inputs I take regularly. I wouldn’t like to take their names, just in case, I forget someone. We are already making 3-4 changes in every game and we are hoping to set up our team for the next season,” he added.

However, as Iyer said, the youngsters who are performing exceptionally in their final few matches will help the team management understand better in creating the perfect core unit for season 2019.

Meanwhile, this year, Shreyas Iyer’s team is looking to finish at bottom of the table in this ongoing season.

Coming to the future assignments, they will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in their remaining fixtures.

The scheduled dates for both the games are May 18th and 20th respectively. Both the games are set to be played at Feroz Shah Kotla.
