On Tuesday (6th August), India completed the whitewash in the three-match T20I series against Windies. In their last match of the series at Providence, India won by seven wickets (with five balls remaining).

After losing the toss, Windies scored 146/6 (20 overs) in the first innings. In reply, the visitors India successfully chased down that target in 19.1 overs after losing three wickets.

  • It is the second-lowest completed T20I total for Windies against India on the Caribbean soil. Their lowest record is 143/5 (20 overs) at Port of Spain on 4th June 2011.

 

ii) It was the 57th T20I defeat for Windies.

  • In the T20I history, it is the joint most defeats for a team. Bangladesh have also suffered 57 T20I defeats.

 

India

i) This victory was India’s sixth consecutive T20I victories against Windies.

  • It is the highest consecutive T20I victories for a team against Windies. Pakistan is in the second position with five successive T20I victories against Windies.

 

ii) India won this bilateral T20I series against Windies by 3-0.

  • It was India’s second whitewash in a T20I bilateral series outside the home soil that had at least three matches. The first such incident happened during India’s tour of Australia in January 2016 where India won that three-match T20I series against the hosts by 3-0.
  • It was India’s fourth whitewash in a T20I bilateral series that had at least three matches.

i) At the age of 20 years and 2 days, Indian cricketer Rahul Chahar made his T20I debut.

  • Rahul Chahar is the fourth-youngest T20I debutant for India. The top three record holders in this list are Washington Sundar (18 years and 80 days), Rishabh pant (19 years and 120 days) and Ishant Sharma (19 years and 152 days).

i) Indian pacer Deepak Chahar had the bowling figures of 3-1-4-3 with an economy rate of 1.33.

  • It is the best T20I bowling figures by an Indian bowler against Windies. The previous record was 4-0-13-3 by Kuldeep Yadav at Kolkata on 4th November 2018.
  • It is the second-best economical bowling performance (minimum bowled three overs) by an Indian bowler in T20I history. The record in this list is 3-0-3-0 (economy rate – 1.00) by Bhuvneshwar Kumar against West Indies at Dhaka on 23rd March 2014.

 

Virat Kohli

i) Indian captain Virat Kohli registered his 21st 50+ score in T20I career.

  • It is the joint-most number of 50+ scores for a batsman in T20I career. Another Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has also managed 21 times 50+ scores in T20I career.

Rishabh Pant

i) At the age of 21 years and 306 days, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant scored 65*.

  • It is the highest individual T20I score by an Indian designated wicketkeeper-batsman. The previous record was 56 by MS Dhoni against England at Bengaluru on 1st February 2017.
  • Rishabh Pant is the fourth-youngest designated wicketkeeper-batsman to register a 50+ score in a T20I match.
