The Group stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 ended with the washout. However, the rain didn’t affect the other matches of the Group stage in this tournament.
Tuesday (3rd March) was the final day of the Group stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. On this day, Group B teams Thailand faced Pakistan, and South Africa had to play against the West Indies.
Thailand Women stunned everyone by scoring their highest WT20I total of 150/3 (20 overs) after deciding to bat first. Before this match, they failed to reach the 100-run marks in all the other three games of this tournament.
While their openers Nattakan Chantam and Nattaya Boochatham put the first wicket partnership of 93 runs, Chantam scored 56 runs, and Boochatham played the knock of 44 runs.
However, the rain completely denied the second innings of that match as it ended with no result. While Pakistan Women finished this tournament with three points, Thailand Women finished with one point.
Meanwhile, South Africa Women vs West Indies Women match didn’t start due to the rain washout. South Africa Women have entered the semi-final of this tournament as a Group B champions with seven points while the West Indies said goodbye this tournament with three points.
England Women earlier qualified for the semi-finals from this Group B and they now finished in the second position of this group.
Earlier, India Women (8 points) and Australia Women (6 points) have advanced to the semi-finals from Group A. India Women are now the only team in this tournament who have won all the four matches of this tournament before the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, the hosts Australia Women are playing this tournament as the defending champions.
