Pakistan lost to India by 89 runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method. Chasing a target of 337 runs, rain interrupted Pakistan’s innings. And when the game resumed, they needed 136 runs off 30 balls. The game for Pakistan was over the moment the rain tapped on the field and players had to walk off the field. After the match, Imad Wasim said there’s no second option for the team. They’ll need to win the remaining four games in order to reach the semi-final of World Cup 2019.
With their third loss and three points after 5 games, Pakistan sit at 9th position on the chart. They got one extra point for the abandoned match against Sri Lanka on June 7. Now, they’ll face South Africa who are at the 7th position. This will be another important game as neither of the two teams could afford to lose now. After this Pakistan will have to face New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, respectively.
After India defeat, Wasim hopeful of other countries’ results

Losing yet again to their arch-rivals was a big disappointment for Pakistan who could not restrict Indian batsmen. It was the seventh time India defeated Pakistan in the World Cup. The match left the Men in Green disappointed and their fans angry.
“This was a really, really disappointing result for us,” said Wasim.
The rain left Pakistan players disappointed as there was nothing much left for them to do. Wasim who struck an unbeaten 46 off 39 deliveries, is still hopeful of the game turning their way. He said that winning in the remaining four matches is their only chance to make a comeback. Meanwhile, Wasim is also hopeful of the result of the other countries.
“When we came back on after the rain there was very little we could do. But we know we have four matches left and if we win those, we still have a chance.
Wasim added, “Results of the other countries may come into play. From our point of view, we can only do what we can. What is in our hands is to try to win all four games and take it from there.”
Where Pakistan shifted down to ninth position, right above Afghanistan, India is now at the third. With seven points under their banner, India is right behind in line with Australia andNew Zealand. Apart from Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh are the ones with three points.
