Wriddhiman Saha Dedicates His Comeback T20 Century To The IAF Officer Abhinandan Varthaman
The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has recently returned to the professional cricket after around nine months. On Wednesday (27 February), he scored a brilliant century in the ongoing domestic T20 tournament. Later, he dedicated that innings to the IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
Since the end moment of IPL 2018, Wriddhiman Saha wasn’t able to play cricket due to his injury. Recently, on 21 February, the wicketkeeper-batsman has finally made his return to the game in the ongoing 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, in the first four games in the competition, the Bengal cricketer scored 2, 6, 3 and 11 runs.
Finally, on Wednesday, Wriddhiman Saha scored 129 runs off 62 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. In that innings, he hit 16 fours and four over boundaries. His innings helped Bengal to score 234/6 in 20 overs. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh only managed to score 127/4 in 20 overs. Bengal won that game by 107 runs.
It was Wriddhiman Saha’s second T20 century. His first T20 century was in the IPL 2014 final. Playing for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 115 runs off 55 balls. However, KXIP lost that final as KKR won that game by three wickets in the final over of the match.
Coming to the latest century, Wriddhiman Saha later thanked everyone for the wishes for his brilliant century innings. He opened up that thankful message through his official Twitter account. He also added that he dedicated that innings to the IAF Wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
The wicketkeeper-batsman posted, “Thank You everyone for your wishes for my today’s knock. This innings is very special to me and I dedicate this inning to India’s brave son IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan. I pray that he returns to India, safe. Jai Hind.”

Indians are praying safe return of Abhinandan Varthaman
Since the Pulwama terror attack, the India-Pakistan relation has hugely hit in low. On 14 February, more than 40 soldiers lost their lives in Pulwama district when a suicide bomber attacked with an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus. The Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) carried out that attack.
Later, on 26 February, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried an air strike over Balakot (POK). They bombed on JeM’s camps and destroyed those camps.
Later, Pakistan arrested Abhinandan Varthaman. At present, he is under the Pakistan army’s custody. Just like the other Indians, Wriddhiman Saha also wants his safe returns to India as soon as possible.
