Especially, the fans can not forget the partnership of Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan in the T20I match against Sri Lanka in 2009 where they led the team to victory. The elder brother Yusuf Pathan recalled all the old memories with his brother and got emotional as Irfan Pathan announced retirement from all form of the game on Saturday (4th January).
Irfan Pathan had given a remarkable contribution to team India. He was the second Indian cricketer to have a hat-trick in Test cricket and the only bowler in Test history to have a hat-trick in the first over of the match. Also, he is one to earn the Man of the Match in the ICC World T20 final in 2007. He had picked up three wickets in four overs, conceding just 16 runs in the final against Pakistan.
Elder brother picks his memorable moment with Irfan
Yusuf Pathan, who currently plays domestic cricket, opines that his memorable moment with Irfan is the T20 World Cup in South Africa and remembers the day when both the brothers played together for India.
“The memorable moment playing with Irfan was to win the T20 World Cup in South Africa,” he told CricTracker.

“Jumma Masjid was the place where we started playing the game together with the utmost passion. We, later, shifted to Baroda Sports Club and emerged as U14 champions and went on to represent Baroda Cricket Association. Motibaug Cricket Club was very special for us where we continued we never give up attitude,” Yusuf added.
Yusuf Pathan’s heart touching words for Irfan Pathan
Yusuf is proud of his brother’s career and even admires his way of handling the situation. He wishes that Irfan Pathan has similarly successful in second innings of his life.
“He always held his head high in the ups and downs during his career. He always kept smiling no matter what the situation was. All these memories of Irfan will stay with me forever,’ the 37-year-old said.
The elder brother gets emotional as his brother bids adieu to cricket. Yusuf Pathan assured Irfan all his support for whatever he does in the second innings of his life.
“We began this journey together and there is still a long way to go. My best wishes are with you for whatever you do in the future. Keep smiling always and make all of us smile as well,” emotional Yusuf concluded.
Irfan Pathan picked 100 wickets in 29 Test matches. In the One Day Internationals, he picked 173 wickets in 120 games, at the economy rate of 5.26.
