Eoin Morgan Feels Eye Catching T10 Format Can Be Played In Olympics

Eoin Morgan feels the Olympics is a huge opportunity to grow the game of cricket by including the T10 format in the showpiece event.

England skipper Eoin Morgan came out in support of the T10 format being included in the Olympic Games as the 10-over game is a sort of “eye-catching entertainment” and is fan-friendly too.

Eoin Morgan Is A Huge Fan Of T10 And Wants The Format To Be Included In The  Olympics

In addition to numerous modern-day tried and tested white-ball players, namely Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Faf du Plessis, T10 League 2021 comprises four retired Indian cricketers in Yusuf Pathan, Munaf Patel, Abhimanyu Mithun and Yo Mahesh (157 domestic matches across formats).

“I am not actually quite sure because I am always trying to bring in new ideas and grow the game even bigger. The Olympics is a huge opportunity to do that. Ever since I have played T10, it’s sort of eye-catching entertainment because I am a huge fan,” said Morgan on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi T10 League where he is playing for Delhi Bulls.

“All my family and friends watch the game and they go out and come back and watch another game. It’s very fan-friendly and if you are looking to sell our game to people who haven’t watched cricket before, I think it’s a really flexible way to do that.”

“Introduce them to watch different formats and I haven’t found a better way than T10 for a format to play in the Olympics,” he added.

Delhi Bulls have won all their three games in the ongoing T10 League, and Eoin Morgan feels the team can go on to win the title this year.

“We have a strong team and missing Jason Roy obviously hurts us. We have plenty of talent and are looking forward to it,” said Morgan.

Earlier this year, the ICC had confirmed that it will bid for cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Eoin Morgan: Dwayne Bravo Will Be Key To Delhi Bull’s Success

The England skipper, who is playing under the leadership of T20 legend Dwayne Bravo, feels the former West Indies all-rounder will be a key player if Delhi Bulls win the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

“I think it will be huge, Bravo is one of the most experienced T20 cricketers in the world if not the most, you think how long he has been around and how many games he has played,” said Morgan.

“The biggest factor that he is a winner and won competitions around the world and won the T20 World Cup as well, so he is going to be essential and hopefully achieving success,” he signed off.

Eoin Morgan believes that the T10 format of cricket is an eye-catching entertainment, and it can be played in the Olympics. Morgan, who is currently plying his trade for Delhi Bulls in T10 League 2021-22, lauded Dwayne Bravo and feels that the veteran all-rounder can lead the team to a title win.

The Abu Dhabi T10 cricket league is a 10-over format game, and six teams, namely Deccan Gladiators, Chennai Braves, Team Abu Dhabi, Bangla Tigers, Northern Warriors, and Delhi Bulls, are competing with each other in the tournament. The 2021-22 edition, which started on November 19, will take place for 15 days, and the summit clash will be held on December 4.

Yusuf Pathan: No Dearth Of Talent In Jammu – Kashmir , Cricketers Need Guidance

Yusuf Pathan said that there is a lot of talent in Jammu and Kashmir and youth must use their skills to make their country proud. Cricket is the most popular sport in the country and almost all states and Union Territories produce quality cricketers who do well on the domestic stage before the cream of the crop goes on to represent the country.

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is one region where cricket is also extremely popular. However, high-quality infrastructure, coaching, and overall guidance are largely missing. In recent times, cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir like Abdul Samad, Rasikh Salam, and Parvez Rasool have done well. All three have been part of IPL teams. In fact, Parvez Rasool, an off-spinning all-rounder, also donned the Team India jersey.

Yusuf Pathan: No Dearth Of Talent In Kashmir

Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, who is a brand ambassador of cricket for J&K, recently met about 50 budding cricketers from Kupwara, Handwara, Bandipora, and adjoining districts as part of a workshop that was held in Srinagar. Yusuf Pathan feels there is a lot of cricketing talent in Jammu and Kashmir and the youngsters need proper guidance and direction.

“(Abdul) Samad, Rasikh (Salam), (Parvez) Rasool are the cricketers who have gone ahead and played in the IPL. Rasool played for India as well. They have made a name for themselves. There is no dearth of talent in Kashmir and all they need is guidance and direction. There are some exceptional talents in Kashmir,” Yusuf said from Kashmir.

“They have limited infrastructure and yet they produce good cricketers, which is a very big thing. The Indian Army is getting involved in it. Be it shoes, caps, jerseys or any equipment, the Indian Army is doing a lot for these youngsters. I have seen kids who can bowl at full speed, can hit the ball out of the park and there are some who are livewires while fielding. They need the right direction and platform.”

The right-arm off-break bowler Parvez Rasool has played 1 ODI and 1 T20I for India picking up 2 and 1 wicket respectively. He has picked 266 scalps in 82 first-class games besides scoring 4807 runs with 12 tons. Yusuf Pathan, with the help of the Indian Army, has visited various areas in Kashmir, including Kupwara, Handwara, Bandipora, and the adjoining districts, and met kids and played cricket with them.

“There is huge excitement and craze among kids in Kashmir. They want to play cricket and love this game a lot. The Indian Army is doing a lot for these kids. They are organising tournaments and competitions for these kids to create a different environment. This step has helped these kids a lot. Now, they just want to play cricket.

“I have spoken to a number of kids – all I want to say is that they are showing a lot of interest in cricket and they want to learn every single bit of it. I am really happy to see this,” Yusuf, who played 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India between 2007 and 2012, further said.

It’s not easy for children in strife-torn Jammu and Kashmir to follow their passion. But over the years certain efforts have been made to try and improve the overall position of sports in the region and also to try and boost interest in sports amongst the youngsters.

Yusuf Pathan: When One Gets Engaged In Sports, They’re Not Distracted

The Real Kashmir football club was one such step. After the devastating floods of 2014 in the region, which caused massive loss of life and property, the editor of a local newspaper and a local businessman came together to keep the youngsters who had lost a lot during the floods engaged.

From an outreach program, the idea transformed into the creation of a football club affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir football association. Real Kashmir eventually went on to be promoted to the I-League.

“Sports are a morale booster and give you a psychological boost. It will always keep you motivated and determined. When you are engaged in sports, you will not get distracted by anything. Your mind will not be engaged in negative thoughts. Sports is like medicine for all this.

“Not just Kashmir, there are other places in our country where children pick up drug addiction and get involved in other negative practices. Sports keep these youngsters engaged. They will be motivated and determined to do well in life and will stay away from negative and destructive activities,” Yusuf, who was part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup-winning campaign, signed off.

Yusuf Pathan debuted in the breathtaking tournament-decider of the 2007 ICC World T20 against Pakistan. The right-handed batsman’s stay was brief though, as he slammed a four and a six, scoring 15 runs in eight balls while opening the innings with Gautam Gambhir. He made his maiden ODI appearance the year after that against the same opposition and emerged as a powerful lower-order batsman.

The Baroda all-rounder featured in 57 ODIs, where he managed 810 runs at 27 alongside hitting two centuries and picking 33 scalps. He was also part of India’s team that won the 2011 World Cup squad at home. Yusuf Pathan was also an impactful player in the Indian Premier League, being part of multiple title victories. He played 174 IPL matches, mustering 3204 runs while maintaining a strike rate of 142.97 alongside a century as well.

He played 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India between 2007 and 2012. He was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup as well as the 2011 ODI World Cup, both of which were won by the Indian team.

National Cricket Academy Has Revamped The Coaching Manual Under Rahul Dravid

National Cricket Academy has revamped the coaching manual, under Rahul Dravid’s stewardship, which now comprises “corporate classes” for aspiring coaches on tackling off-field issues, including selection pressures from various quarters.

Recently, a batch of distinguished former first-class cricketers attended the BCCI’s Level-2 coaching course at National Cricket Academy and also appeared for the theory and practical examination.

National Cricket Academy’s Coaching Module Tweaked To Make It More Appealing For Modern Coaches

While the coaching module at National Cricket Academy has been tweaked to make it more appealing for modern coaches, what came as a pleasant surprise was the introduction of a “corporate problem-solving class”, where the incumbents were asked to find methods of troubleshooting while dealing with multiple off-the-field stakeholders.

“The course has been devised by former Mumbai seamer Kshemal (Waingankar), who is an MBA and has a corporate background. I have never attended a class like this but it was very unique and helped me broaden my horizon,” a distinguished first-class cricketer, who attended the course at National Cricket Academy, said on the condition of anonymity.

“Well, it was about making us understand the difference between ‘bargaining’ and ‘negotiation’. We were told that we don’t need to solve a problem but it needs to be checked what are the trouble-shooting methods that we deploy (approach) in a critical situation,” he said.

“The course instructor (Kshemal) picked two coaches – Person A and Person B. Person A was told that he is the ‘coach’ and Person B was told that he is the ‘selector’. He gave both of them a worksheet, he said while elaborating an example.

“The assignment was the person (B) who has been made the selector has to include three players in the team. He has pressure from various stakeholders it could be a state association, someone else… Now Person A, who is the coach, knows that he can only include two guys in the team and one in playing XI.”

Both Persons A and B were asked to display their “negotiation” skills where one needs to push his case and the other needs to stall it.

“The motive was to check how they deal with a situation like this. Who all does the coach involve? Is it his assistant coaches? Is it the captain? Or does he take help from a performance analyst with data? How does the selector convince the coach? Can he convince his fellow selectors or take help of administrators? It’s not about who gets his way but how one approaches the solution?” the player said.

All aspiring Level 2 coaches have to correct at least one player. While the Level-2 course is complete, all the aspirants now go back to their respective cities and, in the next three months, will have to at least work with one player and prepare a project report.

“This is also an interesting part. All of us will have to pick a player and make a complete video analysis of his bowling or batting depending upon our area of expertise. Then we prepare a project report on what specifics we are working on. After we have worked on corrective measures, we will again have to prepare a video of changes we have made. Then only our Level 2 course will be complete,” said another player.

BCCI had invited applications for batting, bowling (fast & spin), and fielding coaches at National Cricket Academy. The deadline to apply for these positions is September 10, as per the official website. The age limit of the candidates at the National Cricket Academy is 60 years.

The development comes as BCCI has decided not to renew the annual contracts of as many as 11 coaches at the National Cricket Academy at Bengaluru. Last year, the BCCI had decided not to renew their contracts which includes retired cricketers- Ramesh Powar, Sujith Somsundar, Subroto Banerjee, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, and SS Das.

After a brief period of inactivity due to COVID-19, BCCI is in fully functional mode again. It recently conducted a level 2 hybrid course spanning eight days for cricket coaches. It included former India cricketers Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Abhishek Nayar, Ashok Dinda, Devang Gandhi, Naman Ojha, and Parveez Rasool.

Rahul Dravid Attends Classes With All Batches

Rahul Dravid doesn’t take classes, but he attends classes with all batches. What has amazed a lot of these players is the fact National Cricket Academy head Rahul Dravid always makes it a point to sit with the batches and also attend the lectures, taken by the likes of Sujith Somasundar, Apurv Desai, Rajib Datta and Kshemal Waingankar.

“In fact when we were shown videos of players and asked to offer solutions, even Rahul bhai would join us and try to figure out the problem. He would tell us that he still feels like a student and the day he stops learning, that will be the end of it,” another first-class player, who has played against Dravid, said.

“He told us that as coaches, we shouldn’t go on a fault-finding mission when a player comes to us. Rather than trying to nitpick and find faults, we should see what are the good qualities in that player and how we can make them better. The coaching manual in NCA is now more player-centric,” he said.

Some of the well-known past and present players who attended the course are Robin Bisht, Zakaria Zufri, Prabhanjan Mullick, Uday Kaul, Sagar Jogiyani, Sarabjeet Singh, Arindam Das, Saurashis Lahiri, Ranadeb Bose, KB Pawan, and Connor Williams.

Rahul Dravid has re-applied for the post of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy and is the only person so far to file his nomination for the position.

2nd Edition Of Road Safety World Series Likely To Be Held In January-February 2022

The 2nd edition of the Road Safety World Series is likely to be held from January 9 to February 16. Legendary cricketers from six countries – India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Bangladesh – turn back the clock in the tournament. India Legends, led by Sachin Tendulkar, won the inaugural edition which was played in two legs due to the pandemic. The first season commenced last year and was stopped midway due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The second edition of the Road Safety World Series is slated to commence, tentatively, from January 9 with the final on February 16. However, there hasn’t been any official word yet from the organizers.

Road Safety World Series’ 2nd Edition  Will Be Held In January-February

The remaining matches were played earlier this year but Australia Legends didn’t participate and they were replaced by a team from Bangladesh. India hosted the inaugural season of the Road Safety World Series which was organized to create awareness about the safety rules on the road.

If the reports are to be believed, discussions are going on for Sri Lanka to host the tournament next year. However, nothing is confirmed yet. Apart from Sri Lanka, UAE and South Africa are also in the line to host the Road Safety World Series and it remains to be seen who earns the hosting rights of the competition.

The venue for the 2022 edition of the Road Safety World Series isn’t confirmed yet. With the unrelenting pandemic situation in India, which had already forced the second phase of the IPL 2021 and the T20 World Cup to the UAE, this tournament also is unlikely to take place in the country. Not to forget, Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan had contracted the virus after their participation in the first season earlier this year.

Indian Legends Beat Sri Lankan Legends In The Final In March 2021

Earlier in March 2021, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final in a close game. It seemed the rematch of the 2011 World Cup Final between the two teams as a lot of players from that game featured in the game of the retired legends. After being put in to bat first, India was in a spot of bother at 78/3 in the 11th over of the innings.

But then Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan rolled back the clock with a stunning partnership. The duo added 85 runs in less than 8 overs to revive the innings.

While Yuvraj Singh slammed 60 off 41 balls with four fours and as many sixes, Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten on 62 off 36 with four fours and five sixes as India posted 181 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. In response, Sri Lanka Legends fought hard courtesy of Sanath Jayasuriya and Kaushalya Weeraratne but they fell 14 runs short as India famously won the tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar Told Virat Kohli And Yusuf Pathan To Ensure He Won’t Fall Down After India Won 2011 ODI World Cup After A Hiatus Of 28 Years

Sachin Tendulkar, who went to complete a century of centuries in a 24-year-long career, scoring a mountain of runs for India, lifting the 2011 World Cup trophy turned out to be the moment he will cherish the most.

Recalling the iconic moment, Sachin Tendulkar said during an interaction organized by Unacademy: “The victory lap had one incident, when Virat and Yusuf Pathan lifted me, I told them to ensure that I do not fall down. It was not just the Indian team that won the World Cup, it was the entire nation, it is all of us who did it.”

Sachin Tendulkar also admitted that the 2011 World Cup triumph was the “best cricketing day of his life”. Sharing his emotions, the 48-year-old elaborated that the unbelievable moment saw the entire country celebrating.

“When I saw Kapil Dev lifting the World Cup in 1983, it was an unbelievable experience. I enjoyed it with my friends and I wanted to chase my dream. I decided what may come, I have to focus and chase my dream of lifting the World Cup.

“In Mumbai at Wankhede, it was just unbelievable, it was the best cricketing day of life. How many times you have the country celebrate, many few things are there which the entire country celebrates.”

That moment, titled ‘Carried On The Shoulders Of A Nation’, is a reference to the Indian historic win and has been shortlisted as one among the five contenders for the greatest Laureus Sporting Moment 2000-2020 Award. Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh have urged fans to vote for the cricketing great.

That moment made India the first team to win the World Cup on home soil, 28 years after Kapil Dev’s men had lifted cricket’s biggest trophy at Lord’s in 1983.

In the final, Sri Lanka had set India a target of 275, aided by Mahela Jayawardene’s sublime century. In reply, Lasith Malinga got Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag early, however, Gautam Gambhir (97) and MS Dhoni, who promoted himself up the order scoring an unbeaten 91, led the chase as India won by six wickets.

India is grappling with one of its biggest crisis, as over 3 lakh COVID-19 positive cases are being reported per day, as per official numbers. Sachin Tendulkar himself tested positive for the virus earlier this year and was even admitted to a hospital.

Speaking about his battle with COVID-19, Sachin Tendulkar thanked the medical fraternity as well as his family and friends who kept him in a positive frame of mind.

“I think it is a difficult time for all of us, these are unprecedented times and all I can say is from my first-hand experience, the entire medical fraternity, I cannot thank them enough. How they have stayed committed to saving lives, helping so many people, and nobody has complained. Nobody has said that today we do not feel like working, they are saving lives. A big thank you to all of them.”

Deepak Hooda Can Serve India And Do Well: Irfan Pathan

Deepak Hooda was hitting big sixes at will for Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals, for which his father Jagbir Hooda was finding it difficult to control his emotions. Father Jagbir Hooda was happy after his son returned from the ban by the state cricket association with a bang.

Jagbir Hooda knew what his son had gone through over the past six months. Deepak Hooda silenced his critics, who had left no stone unturned in maligning his reputation and barred him from playing cricket for the entire season, with a 28-ball 64 (6×6; 4×4).

Deepak Hooda Was Facing A Tough Time As He Was Banned For A Season But Irfan Pathan And Yusuf Pathan Stepped In: Jagbir

The 25-year-old all-rounder was suspended for the season by Baroda cricket body after a spat with captain Krunal Pandya in January. It meant Deepak Hooda could not play the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-dayers.

“It was a very tough phase for Deepak. He was facing a tough time due to his teammates. Living in a bio-bubble ahead of a tournament and being away from family made things worse.

“He did raise his voice to the treatment he was meted out, but, unfortunately, was banned for a season. He was down and needed counseling and support,” said Jagbir from the Hooda house in Vadodara’s Manjalpur.

“That’s when Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan stepped in. They looked after Deepak and were there for him at the nets. He missed playing for the state (Baroda),” said Jagbir, who worked in the administrative office of the Indian Air Force for 29 years for before taking a voluntary retirement five years ago.

The Pathan brothers (Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan) have been mentoring Deepak Hooda since he started playing age-specific cricket for Baroda. The former duo has been vocal about Deepak Hooda’s talent.

“The Pathan brothers provided Deepak the motivation and encouragement he required after he was suspended. He needed to be mentally strong as everyone was pointing fingers at him after the suspension. They would go to the Gujarat Police ground and the Moti Bagh ground and train for hours on both the red soil and black soil.

“He put all his energy into training. And then he knew he could make an impression in the IPL and show the world his talent. I am happy he played brilliantly against Rajasthan Royals,” said Jagbir.

Deepak Hooda hit a quickfire cameo of 64 off only 28 balls against Rajasthan. Last season, Deepak Hooda played seven games for Punjab Kings; as he was selected only after the team failed to win. In five innings he batted, he scored 101 runs with a strike rate of 149 and the highest score of 71.

Deepak Hooda Happy To Bat At No. 4 In Domestic Cricket

The right-handed Deepak Hooda had smashed a 30-ball unbeaten 62 against Chennai Super Kings in the last competitive game he played on November 1, 2020, in IPL 2020 at UAE.

“I was just reacting to the ball and showing aggressive intent in my batting. I got this role at No. 4 and I am happy as I bat at this position in domestic cricket,” said Deepak Hooda, who has pushed up the order ahead of Nicholas Pooran and has played for Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Deepak Hooda played a season for Haryana before moving to Baroda in 2010 and made his first-class debut in 2014. In November 2017, he was in the India squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. In February 2018, he was named in India’s T20I squad for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy but did not play.

“He is a fine talent. He is someone who can serve India and do well. The kind of knock he played against Rajasthan Royals shows his mental strength and the manner he played fearless cricket definitely sets him apart from others.

“He used the middle overs well and hit the ball hard in the right spots. And the fact that he was promoted up the order provided him the chance to express himself,” said Irfan Pathan, who is the mentor-cum-coach of the Jammu & Kashmir team.

“He is a very fit cricketer. His yo-yo score usually touches 18. Much cricket is left in the tournament, more impactful knocks should be expected from him and I hope he gets to roll his arm and showcase his overall all-round skills.

“He knows he has missed out on a lot of cricket this season, I am sure he will be hungry for more,” said Irfan Pathan, who also praised Punjab Kings’ left-arm medium-pacer Arshdeep Singh for his brilliant last over.

Sanju Samson’s 119 went in vain as RR failed to chase down the stiff target of 222 in 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium. Sanju Samson ended up on the losing side despite setting the record for the highest score by a player on captaincy debut.

Arshdeep Singh was PBKS’s best bowler as he took 3 wickets conceding 35 runs, including that of RR captain Sanju Samson, to tilt the match in Punjab Kings’ favour at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.

Brief Scores: Punjab Kings 221/6 (KL Rahul 91, Deepak Hooda 64, Chetan Sakariya 3/31) beat Rajasthan Royals 217/7 (Sanju Samson 119, Riyan Parag 25, Arshdeep Singh 3/35) by 4 runs

Sachin Tendulkar Hospitalized For Testing Covid-19 Positive As Covid-19 Cases Increase In Maharastra

Sachin Tendulkar, 47, shared the news at a time when India is staring at what experts have called a “deadlier second wave”. India reported 81,466 news cases and 469 deaths on Thursday – the highest daily spike since December.

The country’s Covid caseload had dropped sharply in January when it was reporting less than 15,000 cases daily. But cases began to spike again in March, largely driven by poor test-and-trace and lax safety protocols. Many of the new cases were reported in the western state of Maharashtra, where Sachin Tendulkar lives in city of Mumbai.

Since the pandemic began, India has confirmed more than 12.2 million cases and over 163,000 deaths. It has the third-highest number of infections in the world after the United States and Brazil – however, its number of deaths per capita is far lower.

“Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalized. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians and my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar said on Friday he has been hospitalized as a precautionary measure, six days after he tested positive for coronavirus.

Sachin Tendulkar Hospitalized Only As A Precautionary Measure: Atul Ranade

However, in the evening, childhood friend Atul Ranade, who speaks to the retired maestro daily, confirmed that the doctors hospitalized Sachin Tendulkar only as a “precautionary measure.”

“It’s good that he got hospitalized because it’s much better to monitor him in the hospital. He had persistent borderline symptoms (for covid), so it was necessary. With all the machines available there, they can monitor his health parameters properly,” Ranade told TOI.

According to sources, Sachin Tendulkar, a ‘Bharat Ratna,’ has been admitted to the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaon in South Mumbai. It’s the same hospital where Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, was admitted to on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, wishes for a speedy recovery poured in for Sachin Tendulkar. Former cricketers Pragyan Ojha, RP Singh, and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also sent their wishes to Sachin Tendulkar.

“I wish him a super-fast recovery,” batting legend Sunil Gavaskar told TOI.

Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood friend and former Mumbai and India teammate Vinod Kambli tweeted: “On this #GoodFriday, my family and I have prayed for you, my friend. Looking forward to see you soon even healthier than before!”

From across the border, former Pakistan skipper and pace bowling great Wasim Akram, who had many memorable on-field cricketing battles with the ‘Master Blaster,’ tweeted: “Even when you were 16, you battled the world’s best bowlers with guts and aplomb… so I am sure you will hit Covid-19 for a SIX! Recover soon master! Would be great if you celebrate India’s World Cup 2011 anniversary with doctors and hospital staff… do send me a pic!”

Reliving one of his ‘favourite rivalries’, Shoaib Akhtar tweeted a picture of himself with the batting legend from a one-day match and also wished the Master Blaster a speedy recovery from COVID-19. After former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram sent his warm wishes for the Indian batsman, all-rounder Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to express his wishes to the leading run-scorer in international cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar recently led India Legends to victory at the Road Safety World Series. India Legends beat Sri Lanka Legends in the final of the tournament to lift the inaugural title. Yusuf Pathan, Subramaniam Badrinath, and Irfan Pathan also tested positive for COVID after playing in the tournament for India Legends.

The right-handed batsman’s stay was brief though, as he slammed a four and a six, scoring 15 runs in eight balls while opening the innings with Gautam Gambhir. He was also part of India’s team that won the 2011 World Cup squad at home and played a few fixtures before being dropped and was subsequently replaced by Suresh Raina. But a poor run of form in white-ball cricket led to his axing in 2012 and he never got the nod again.
