Yuvraj Singh Feels Very Stupid To Think Increasing Batting Depth In T20I

Indian captain Virat Kohli has recently claimed that the Indian team is focusing on their batting depth in T20I cricket. However, the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh feels that it is the stupid idea. While he believes that India’s batting isn’t an issue, he also added that the good bowlers would be crucial for India to win the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2020.
Virat Kohli-led Indian national cricket team is currently focusing for the next T20 World Cup. Australia will host the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2020 from 18th October to 15th November 2020. Indian team management is trying to set up a strong challenging team for this tournament.

Recently, in a very surprising way, team management has dropped the wrist-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav from the T20I squad. Though they are a little bit inconsistent at the present moment, they are still very challenging performers. Before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, they were the regular members in the limited-overs format. But after that tournament, the team management has dropped them from the T20I squad.
Recently, talking about these exclusions, Virat Kohli pointed out their lack of batting qualities. While the team management is temporarily looking on the batting depth in T20I format, both these talented wrist-spinners have faced exclusions from the shortest format.
You need really good bowlers to win the T20 World Cup – Yuvraj Singh
However, Yuvraj Singh has called it is a very stupid idea to create batting deepness in the T20I format. The former Indian all-rounder believes that the present Indian batting is strong enough in T20I cricket. He also added that the good quality bowlers would be crucial to win the T20 World Cup. Yuvraj confidently believes that India should bring back the wrist-spinners in the T20I format.
Yuvraj recently told India Today, “It is very stupid to think that we (Team India) have to bat deep. In the last 3 to 4 years during every IPL auction, most of the money is spent on the bowlers. The thinktank needs to understand that you have to have main bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav. Especially if you are playing on flat tracks, you need very good bowlers.
“You need really good bowlers to win the T20 World Cup. Yes, we have a great batting side. We have Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. Middle-order you know, Shreyas Iyer has done very well in the ODIs. So batting is not an issue but you need bowlers to win the World Cup. Definitely (on bringing wrist-spinners). My thinking is it is very easy to hit pacers but to reach out to the pitch of a delivery bowled by a spinner may create problems for you.”
The 29-year-old leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 46 wickets in 31 T20Is. Meanwhile, the left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav has played 18 T20Is and bagged 35 wickets.
