Ishan Kishan went berserk against Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers in the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 to take the trophy home for Mumbai Indians (MI). The pocket-size dynamite smashed three boundaries and one giant six to amass 33* runs off 19 balls to chase down 156 runs target. His power-packed innings has also impressed former Mumbai Indians cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who took to Twitter to praise him.
Yuvraj Singh posted a congratulatory message for Mumbai Indians for lifting the fifth title. He applauded Rohit Sharma for his captain’s knock while gave a special mention to the young wicket-keeper Ishan Khan, stating that he is a ‘very special player in the making’.
“Congratulations @mipaltan by far the best team in the #ipl @ImRo45 captains knock in the final! Heart goes out to @DelhiCapitals had an outstanding tournament! @ishankishan51 special very special player in the making. #IPL2020,” Yuvraj Singh Tweeted.
Yuvraj Singh hails Ishan Kishan, and he is the star in the making:
Ishan Kishan has played several gun-blazing knocks this season. His consistency at the middle-order has allowed the openers to play freely. The most remarkable knock of him came against Royal Challengers Bangalore, in the first meeting, in which he missed his century with just one run.
After the top-order lost their wicket for 39 runs, the youngster re-build the innings and showed his power-hitting ability. Striking nine sixes and two fours, he smashed 99 runs off 58 balls but unfortunately, he could not take the game home. However, the 22-year-old proved that his determination and hunger to score runs could do wonders.
Some other of his best knocks are – 68 off 37 balls against CSK, 72* off 47 balls against DC in the second league stage meeting, 55* off 30 balls in qualifier 1. Overall, he has amassed 516 runs in 14 matches at the strike rate of 145.76.
Indeed, Yuvraj Singh has rightly labelled him as the future star.
