Yuvraj Singh Predicted Jasprit Bumrah’s Success In Test Cricket Early In 2013
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is rapidly growing up day by day. Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh predicted Bumrah’s success in Test cricket at early in 2013.
The 25-year-old Jasprit Bumrah is one of the top-class bowlers at present. Many experts have stunned on his consistency in bowling skills. They have praised the right-arm pacer.
Bumrah made his international debut in January 2016. However, he made his Test debut in January 2018. The right-arm pacer has already played 11 Tests, 58 ODIs and 42 T20Is where he has taken 55, 103 and 51 wickets respectively. Bumrah is currently the no.1-ranked ODI bowler and no.7-ranked Test bowler.
Yuvraj Singh first time faced him in 2013 during a Ranji Trophy game. During that game, Yuvraj realised that the bowler had all potential to become successful in Test cricket. Yuvraj feels that Bumrah is once-in-a-generation kind of bowler.
Recently, Yuvraj told TOI, “Bumrah is a class act. He is a once-in-a-generation kind of bowler. I first faced him during a Ranji Trophy game against Gujarat at the PCA Stadium in Mohali in 2013. I played a hostile spell of four overs from him and knew immediately that he was going to be a match-winner for India in Test cricket.”
At present, Jasprit Bumrah is definitely a cut above the rest – Yuvraj Singh
Jasprit Bumrah is very famous for his unorthodox bowling action. Despite his early success, some raised their doubts on Bumrah’s success in longer-formats. However, Bumrah has answered everyone through his incredible bowling performances.
Yuvraj added, “Then, a lot of people questioned whether he would be able to excel in Test cricket because of his unique action. But he has kept his critics quiet with some mesmerizing performances in the past three years, that too in all formats. At present, he is definitely a cut above the rest.”
Yuvraj and Bumrah played 26 international matches (18 ODIs and eight T20Is) together for India. They also played together in last Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In IPL 2019, Yuvraj and Bumrah both served Mumbai Indians (MI). Bumrah is playing for MI since his IPL debut in 2013 while Yuvraj joined MI in the last edition after the franchise bought him for INR 1 crore (base price).
