Former Indian left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan has faced abuse for wishing and celebrating Diwali.

India officially celebrated Diwali on last Sunday (27th October 2019). Many people, including celebrities, have wished Diwali to all the Indians. Even many foreigners have wished happy Diwali to the Indians.

Diwali is the celebration of light and hopes for upcoming days. Though some specific religions started this festival, now every Indian celebrates this festival.

Wishing everyone a very Happy and prosperous Diwali – Zaheer Khan

On this special occasion, the 41-year-old Zaheer Khan took his official social media accounts to wish everyone. He posted a picture of him along with his wife, Indian film actress Sagarika Ghatge, with the shining lamps.

With this picture, Zaheer wrote on that post, “Wishing everyone a very Happy and prosperous Diwali!”

Many have liked this post and wished Diwali to him and others. But some radical fundamentalists have abused the former Indian left-arm pacer.

Zaheer Khan was one of the best pace bowlers in Indian cricket history. During his international career, Zaheer was one of the top pacers in the world. His lethal left-arm deliveries have troubled many world-class batsmen regularly.

Zaheer made his international cricket debut in October 2000. The left-arm pacer played 92 Tests, 200 ODIs and 17 T20Is where he grabbed 311, 282 and 17 wickets respectively. In his international career, Zaheer also played six ODIs for Asia XI. Zaheer is the second most wicket-taker as an Indian pacer, and fourth most wicket-taker as an Indian bowler.

Zaheer played his last international game in February 2014. Later, in October 2015, he retired from the international and first-class cricket. While Zaheer last played an IPL game in May 2017, he is now active only in some cricket leagues, mostly overseas tournaments.

In 2017, Zaheer Khan was the bowling consultant of Indian national cricket team.
