02-11-2016 UCL Round-Up: Real Madrid Earn Thriling Draw; Dortmund, Sevilla Secure Victories

On Wednesday (02/11/2016) night in the UCL, Real Madrid drew with Legia Warsaw by 3-3. Also Juventus and Leicester City drew against Lyon and Copenhagen respectively while Porto and Borussia Dortmund edged to victories against their opponents. Tottenham Hotspur suffered a home defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite once leading 2-0, Real Madrid failed to beat the hosts Legia Warsaw as both the teams secured a point each after a thrilling finish by 3-3. In this Group F encounter, Real Madrid took only 52 seconds to open the scoreline. Gareth Bale scored that goal through a half-volley from outside the box after receiving a headed pass from Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema extended the Real’s lead to 2-0 at 35 minutes after successfully netted a ball. 5 minutes later, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe put back the hosts after scoring a goal through a powerful shot taking outside the box.

On 58 minutes, Miroslav Radovic equalised the scoreline (2-2) for the hosts through another powerful shot taking outside the box. At 83 minutes, Thibault Moulin put ahead the hosts for the first time into the match after successfully netted the ball from outside the box shot. Just 2 minutes later, Mateo Kovacic leveled the scoreline for Real Madrid by 3-3.

In another Group F match, hosts Borussia Dortmund defeated Sporting Lisbon by 1-0. On 12 minutes, hosts’ striker Adrian Ramos scored the only goal of the match through a header. With this victory, Dortmund secured their spot for the UCL 2016/17 Round-of-16 while Real Madrid has to wait at least another match to secure their berth for the UCL 2016/17 Round-of-16.

In the Group E matches, hosts Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen while another hosts Monaco clinched 3-0 victory against CSKA Moscow.

With the only goal of Kevin Kampl at 65 minutes, Bayer Leverkusen snatched a 1-0 victory against the hosts Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, hosts Monaco beat CSKA Moscow by 3-0 with the help of Radamel Falcao’s brace. Valere Germain scored the first goal for the hosts at 12 minutes. Falcao scored the next two goals for Monaco at 29 and 41 minutes.

In the Group G encounters, Leicester City held to a goalless draw against the hosts Copenhagen while another host Porto edged past Club Brugge by the only goal from Andre Silva at 37 minutes.

In the Group H clashes, host Juventus drew against Lyon by 1-1 while another host Sevilla thrashed 10-man Dinamo Zagreb by 4-0.

Gonzalo Higuain put ahead the hosts Juventus at 13 minutes through converting a penalty while Corentin Tolisso scored the equaliser goal for Lyon at 84 minutes through a header.

On the other hand, home team Sevilla thrashed 10-man Dinamo Zagreb by 4-0. The four goal scorers for the Spanish team were: Luciano Vietto (31′), Sergio Escudero (66′), Steven N’Zonzi (80′) and Wissam Ben Yedder (87′). Due to second booking in this match, Dinamo’s right-back Petar Stojanovic was shown red card at the injury time of the first half (45’+1’). Stojanovic was booked for the first time in this match at 11 minutes.
