Louis van Gaal was announced as the new Manchester United manager, with the Netherlands boss signing a three-year deal to replace David Moyes.

 

The Netherland boss now faces a daunting task of bringing the club back to the top, with several players leaving Old Trafford, including the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs, he needs to sign the correct players to replace them. Van Gaal has been given a transfer kitty of up to £200 million to invest this summer. Lets have a look at players he might bring to Old Trafford this summer.

1) Toni Kroos

Kroos, 24, has been linked with Man United for months now and could leave Bayern Munich in the summer. Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently admitted that talks over a new deal have failed, with Manchester United are ready to offer Toni Kroos a deal worth £250,000-a-week. It remains to be seen if Van Gaal is keen on bringing the €40m midfielder to Old Trafford.

2) Luke Shaw
The 18 year old, has been named in Roy Hodgson‘s World Cup squad and he might be the perfect replacement for the outgoing Patrice Evra. Recently, United made a £27m bid for the Saints left back, with United confirming Van Gaal as the new boss, it’s just a matter of time Shaw makes a move to Old Trafford. Luke Shaw was also named in the PFA Team of the Year.

3) Cesc Fàbregas
United tried everything to sign the star midfielder last summer and will try to sign him again. Fabregas also admitted he was ‘flattered’ by Manchester United’s interest in him last summer. According to very reliable Guillem Balague , Barcelona are looking to sell the ex-Arsenal skipper for £40million. Fabregas would be an alternative to Bayern midfielder Toni Kroos.

4) Edinson Cavani
It is no secret Cavani is unsettled at Parc des Princes and is looking for a move elsewhere. Cavani is said to be unhappy about playing wide, but that has not stopped him from scoring goals Manchester United are long term admirers of the Uruguayan international and will be looking to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.

5) William Carvalho
United have regularly scouted the 21-year-old defensive midfielder last season. The Portuguese has a reportedly buyout clause of €45m, and is under contract until 2018. Recently, Carvalho revealed the possibility of him making a move to Manchester United or Real Madrid this summer.
