Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham to fight for ‘Italian Messi’ as contracts talks are on hold

The clubs in the Premier League have always been on the lookout for quality players to add to their squad every chance they get and that often sees them keep tabs on particular players throughout the season.

With such quality hard to find in the market, it is often found that a number of clubs fight for one transfer target during the transfer window.

One such player who might start off a bidding war in England is Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne.

The 25-year old Italian who is also referred to as the ‘Italian Messi’ is one of the most exciting players in the domestic circuit in the country.

Known for his pace and dribbling ability, Insigne is a versatile player who can play in any of the attacking roles but is primarily a winger who loves to provide width to his side.

Having scored 22 goals in 131 appearances for the Naples outfit, Insigne is a decent player who has the potential to blossom into a world class player in his prime.

Napoli are well aware of his potential and were stern in their valuation of £44m in the summer transfer window to ward off interests from a number of clubs before the start of the season.

He has been in decent form and has only attracted more club in this time and this has seen Napoli start contract negotiations with the player to keep him at the club for in the long term. However, that did not work well.

According to reports, Insigne is demanding a £100,000 a week from Napoli to extend his contract and that has seen all talks stall between the player and the club recently.

So it does not come as a surprise that a number of European clubs are already linked with a move for him in January, just to increase the pressure on the Italian outfit.

Liverpool were the first team to register their interest in the player along with Tottenham Hotspur and Wolfsburg while Arsenal have now been linked to him for a move in January.

Though Napoli may not yet be ready to sell, the player was spotted in tears earlier last month after the fans of his clubs turned against him on the field for missing a penalty against Besiktas in the Champions League.

That has only fuelled the rumors of his exit and it now looks like Napoli would happily sell him if any of the suitors are ready to meet his valuation.

He suits the Spurs and the Reds in England while Wenger may not be thinking to spend big yet. So it will be interesting to see if any of the clubs do make a move in January.

Do you think Insigne is a decent buy for the Premier League clubs?
