Bayern Munich want Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane in a ‘dream’ transfer to replace their striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Poland international has left Bayern for Barcelona after 8 glorious years at the club. The Bavarians now have a tough task at hand replacing their mercurial striker who scored a massive 344 goals in 375 appearances for them.

However, the Bundesliga champions have set their sights on Harry Kane as confirmed by their CEO Oliver Kahn.

Kane has established himself as one of the brilliant goal-poachers in recent years, netting 247 goals in 385 games for Spurs. Though it will be difficult to prize away the striker from Spurs, Bayern are confident of striking a deal for him next summer.

‘Dream of the future’- Kahn on Harry Kane

Bayern were touted to replace Lewandowski immediately after his £42 million move to Barcelona. Moreover, with Cristiano Ronaldo available on the market, reports suggested Bayern looked at him as Lewandowski’s successor.

The German side however distanced themselves from the rumours and even confirmed that they are not in the running for Ronaldo’s signing.

But Oliver Kahn while speaking to Bild has now revealed their plans to land Kane in 2023 to lead their attack. “He is under contract with Tottenham,” started Kahn.

“Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future. Now we have to look at getting the squad together for the current season. So let’s see what else happens.”

Meanwhile, Kane could also push for a move to Germany if the Bavarians come calling next season. The England captain will enter the final year of his Spurs deal in summer 2023, when Bayern plan plan to poach him.

Kane had earlier forced for a transfer away from North London when Manchester City bid for him last summer. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy slapped a price tag of £150 million on Kane which fend-off the interest from City.

But starting from next summer, only one year will be left on Kane’s contract and Spurs will certainly try and avoid the situation of letting him leave for free in 2024.

On the other hand, it seems highly unlikely that he extends with Spurs since he is yet to win a silverware in his club career. An offer from Bayern next summer could definitely lure him with the chance of lifting trophies at club-level.
