Huge Blow For Tottenham As Harry Kane Could Be Ruled Out For The Rest Of The Season
After coming close to the Premier League title last season, Mauricio Pochettino’s London outfit Tottenham Hotspur have found a way to stay close to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at the top of the table.
They have been one of the most consistent sides in the tournament and have been one of the most miserly defenses in the division but they have not been able challenge for the title, especially against a Chelsea side that is running away with it.
The spurs were already knocked out of the Europa League by Genk and have just the FA Cup to find some glory and like it was not enough problems at the club, the Spurs were hit by a huge blow earlier this week.
The Spurs were busy in their FA Cup quarter-final against Millwall at the weekend where a hat-trick from Heung-Min Son have the homes side a 6-0 victory, to help them progress into the next round.
The manager will be happy with his side’s performance in the game but he was dealt a huge blow, just 9 minutes into the game on the night as Millwall defender Jake Cooper made a crunching challenge near the byline on Harry Kane which saw him limp off on the night.
Kane did not last for 10 minutes and thanks to the nasty injury, he was rushed off for scans which may have revealed something really bad for the Spurs.
According to reports, Harry Kane could now be ruled out for the rest of the season for an ankle injury he picked up during this game.
Speaking to the media right after the game, Pochettino revealed that it was his ankle that suffered a twist and said that he will probably not be available for the game against Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino said: “Harry has twisted his ankle, the same ankle that was injured before. Now it’s a matter of waiting. We will assess him today and see what happens. It’s difficult. It looks a similar situation to when he was injured against Sunderland earlier in the season.”
“We need to assess him. It’s too difficult to give a real level of how his ankle is. We hope it’s not a big issue, but it looks similar. It will be difficult for him to play against Southampton on Sunday, but we need to be cautious,” he added.
Though an official time is yet to be set on his return, Kane was absent for 7 weeks earlier this season after he picked up a similar injury and with just 11 games left in the domestic season, Kane might no be able to help the Spurs, atleast until the last couple of matchdays.
Do you think Harry Kane’s injury will propel them out of the top-4?
