ISL – Delhi Dynamos play out a 0 – 0 draw against FC Pune City
The Indian Super League saw it’s first 0-0 draw as Delhi Dynamos drew against FC Pune City
It was stages as the battle of two great strikers in Seria A history, Alessandro Del Piero Vs David Trezeguet, but that had to be put on hold till the 38th minute of the match as Alessandro Del Piero was on the bench though Trezeguet and Katsouranis started for Pune.
Delhi Dynamos FC: Hout, Ali, Ghosh, Singh, Raymakers, Mulder, Fernandes, Herrero, Junker, Skuobo, Malswamtulunga
FC Pune City: Belardi, Park, Ravanan, Cirillo, Magliocchetti, Gurung, Maithani, Mehta, Rodriguez, Trezeguet, Kastrounis
Delhi looked more confident on the ball in the early stages of the match but failed to make any clear-cut chances in the first 15 minutes of the match enjoying 59% of the ball possession. David Trezeguet though managed to put the ball in the back of the net once but it was ruled out as David Trezeguet committed a foul in his aerial duel with Anwar Ali.
Though Delhi Dynamos seemed to be the stronger of the two sides, it needed the introduction of Alessandro Del Piero to lift the spirits of the team and the crowd to really get the foot down for the home side. The first half saw the match being substandard in terms of quality but there were plenty of chances to get off the mark.
The Delhi Dynamos saw much of the ball in the first 45 minutes with Francis Fernandes being in the thick of the happenings for them mostly, while Mama also impressed as a make-shift left winger.
The second half started in a similar manner with Delhi Dynamos completing dominating the possession but with nothing to show for it. FC Pune City did not do much on the attacking front either. Del Piero tired his best with some efforts at goal but none were fruitful. The fans did everything they could to lift the spirit of the home side and the atmosphere was certainly electrifying in the 2nd half.
The FC Pune City goalkeeper, Belardi, had a great game seeing him save almost everything that was thrown at him. He was beaten once though in the 2nd half injury time but the post came to his rescue and it stayed 0-0 till the full time.
It was eventually a very lackluster match with the only bright spot in the match being the Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero who was also the Man of the Match. FC Pune City will probably be the happier of the two teams and Delhi Dynamos will certainly see this match as two points dropped.
