Louis van Gaal has apparently found a solution to his striker woes as young Belgian midfielder Adnan Januzaj did a commendable job in the striker position during pre-season games. He even scored a wonderful and clinical goal against FC Barcelona.
Adnan Januzaj made a mark in his United career in 2013 when he impressed the world with his incredible talent. He did not do well last season and was not given regualr starts. But in this summer Louis van Gaal has altered his role and converted him to forward. It was always going to be difficult for Adnan Januzaj to get into the midfield position as there is an array of talented midfielders in the United squad.
Speaking to the media, Louis van Gaal was asked about Januzaj’s new role, to which he replied: “I have given him a chance in this position and you have to look if he can do that or not. But he has a lot of quality and against Barcelona he showed it for the first time.
“He was very good and was a threat as a striker in his 30 minutes. He always gives an option for midfielder and defenders, he scored a wonderful goal and that is always important.
“He always fought with two defenders, but he did well, although it was easier for him against the defence when [Barcelona centre-back] Gerard Pique was substituted.”
Manchester United does not have many good strikers in their squad. Club captain Wayne Rooney will be assigned the duty to play as a number 9 this season. His covers at the moment are Javier Hernandez who is out with a collar bone injury and makeshit striker Memphis Depay. If the Belgian youngster improves as a striker it will be beneficial for the club.
The Red Devils are in search of star striker and players like Thomas Muller, Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandoski are in their radar.
