Arsenal legend Ian Wright has delivered his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur’s business in the ongoing transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have so far splurged £85 million in the transfer market, signing four players. Spurs have acquired the services of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster for free, while Yves Bissouma cost them £25 million and Richarlison £60 million.

However, Tottenham won’t put a full stop here as they are working on more deals. Barcelona center-back Clement Lenglet has reportedly agreed terms with Spurs for a loan move till June 2023. Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence is also close to arriving at Spurs.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has expressed his take on Tottenham’s signings through his Wrighty’s House Podcast. While Tottenham have been beefing up, Arsenal are not far behind as well.

Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and headline signing Gabriel Jesus are Arsenal’s recruits so far. Furthermore, the club is also negotiating moves for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans and Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.

Wright compares the signings of Arsenal and Tottenham

Wright said, “I feel Tottenham are going to cause problems. You can’t not be jealous of that summer, especially coming from the other side of North London.”

“They are frightening, man. Everything we are doing at Arsenal, and I am putting on as my armour. But we have done this. We have Vieira. We have two No10s now. And we are still trying for Tielemans. And we have Gabriel Jesus.”

“So, you are trying to arm yourself because the Tottenham fans are saying, ‘Well, we have Bissouma now, Richarlison, [Harry] Kane, then [Rodrigo] Bentancur is going to kick in and we have seen what [Cristian] Romero is about’.

“When you look at how Tottenham can flex when they are doing it under this manager, it kind of makes me feel s***.”

Certainly, enough firepower has been added by the North Londoners ahead of the new season. As a result, we could once again witness a fierce battle for a top four finish between the two next season.

Tottenham triumphed last season in snatching the fourth place from Arsenal, but the Gunners will be out for revenge come season. Moreover, expectations will be higher than ever from both Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte in order to deliver for their respective clubs.
