PSV Eindhoven have claimed that star attacker Memphis Depay could leave in the summer.
The Dutch International winger, is a prime target for Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. And Depay will be able to seek pastures new, if he wishes, according to the Eredivisie sides’ director Toon Gerbrands, who also revealed Spurs’ approach for the player in the summer.
“Tottenham were willing to offer 20 million euros for Depay,” he told reporters. “We decided to keep hold of him. But he has the option to leave after this season. I think these two players are very attractive to a lot of clubs in Europe. So far, no one has come forward with an offer but I expect we will come under great pressure.”
The 21-year-old was close to exiting the in the summer, but eventually stayed in Netherlands on the rumored recommendation of Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
If indeed there is a battle between the aforementioned two clubs for Depay’s signature, Manchester United could have the upper hand. The trickster was given his Netherlands debut by van Gaal, and has closely worked with the former Oranje manager.

The Moordrecht born forward proved to be an important player for his nation in last summer’s World Cup, coming off the bench to score against Australia and Chile.
“What I like about Memphis is that he picks things up so quickly,”
“What he is doing is very mature for his age. It’s a childhood dream [playing for his country at the World Cup]. We do click well and I really love his beautiful style of play,” the former Arsenal striker said.

Depay meanwhile, is the form of his life netting 21 goals this season. His 15 strikes in the league sees the Boeren lead the Eredivisie charts by 11 points ahead of second placed rivals Ajax.
Depay, who turned 21 earlier in February, quelled talk of his transfer by penning a new 4-year-contract last summer. Despite pledging his imminent future to Phillip Cocu’s side, the winger could move for as little as £10million.
