If Marc Cucurella’s recent Instagram activity is anything to go by, one can say that his transfer to champions Manchester City is just a matter of time.

Brighton star Marc Cucurella has all but confirmed that he would be a Manchester City player in the upcoming Premier League season. Reports of Manchester City being interested in signing Cucurella are doing the rounds for quite some time now.

The rumours emerged after Cucurella’s stunning debut season in the Premier League. The Spanish left wing-back signed up for Brighton last year from Getafe in a deal worth around £15 million and hit the ground running.

Cucurella did not have too much difficulty in adapting to the Premier League and was named Brighton’s Player of the Season for 2021/22, a campaign in which they achieved their highest-ever league finish. In May, he scored his first Premier League against Manchester United during the famous 4-0 rout.

Marc Cucurella to Manchester City:

While Marc Cucurella’s move to Manchester City is yet to be confirmed officially, the Spanish star has made it clear that he will don the City jersey in the upcoming season. Cucurella recently liked a post on Instagram in which he was being linked to Manchester City.

The post was from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Romano took to Instagram to state that Kalvin Phillips’ move to Manchester City is now a done deal. He further stated that City’s next priority is to sign Cucurella. The post was spotted by City Xtra and they shared it on Twitter before Romano re-tweeted it.

Here is the tweet on Marc Cucurella from Romano:

Manchester City have already completed the signing of striker Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips is also looking set to sign for them. And Cucurella’s recent activity has all but confirmed that he too is City bound.

The Premier League champions are eager to bolster the left side of their field and Cucurella has emerged as their top target.Since Benjamin Mendy was arrested last summer, Manchester City have operated without a natural left-back.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has done well at that position whenever Pep Guardiola relied on him while Joao Cancelo excelled at the position last season and was named in the PFA Team of the Year. However, Zinchenko is now wanted elsewhere with Arsenal and West Ham two sides already linked. In such a scenario, City do not want to enter the new season without bolstering their back line.
