Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Chilean play-maker Arturo Vidal. The 28-year old has undergone successful medical this afternoon and signed the contract completing the move.
The Chilean have signed a four-year contract which will see him at Allianz Arena till 2019 and will earn an annual salary of €10m. The midfielder has costed a massive €37 million making him the second expensive signing in Bayern’s history only behind Javi Martinez.
“I’m very happy,” Vidal told Bayern’s official website. “This is a new step in my career and I hope I do well here. I want to help the team and win trophies. It’s a dream come true for me personally.
“I wanted to take another big step forward in my career. I want to keep developing as a player and win important trophies like the Champions League. I think the best opportunity to do so is with Bayern.
“We [Juve] weren’t a long way off winning all three competitions last season. I hope we can pull it off with Bayern. That has to be the target.”
The Chilean international was under Bayern’s radar back in 2011 but eventually signed to Juventus from rivals Bayer Leverkusen for a sum of €12.5 million.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl Rummenigge has earlier said he has been given false information by Leverkusen as he quoted saying, “The message we were given was that the player didn’t want to come, but that’s not true.
“It was Leverkusen who clearly turned down what was a better offer from us at the time purely because they didn’t want Vidal to continue playing in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.”
The signing of Vidal is a huge satement of intent from Bayern Munich who let go their club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United earlier this month.
