Arsenal, Chelsea, United On Alert As Lethal Attacker Hints On January Exit
In what was one of the most effective transfers in the summer leading the previous season, French star Dimitri Payet, moved to West Ham United from Marseille last summer.
Ever since, the 29 year old has been the most impressive player for the Hammers, helping them to a place in Europe going into the new Olympic Stadium this season.
The £10.75m buy for West Ham has scored 14 goals in 48 appearances for the side since the start of the previous season and has been one of their best players in the current season which has been disappointing for the Hammers.
His form saw him linked with a move away from the club in January this year but Slaven Bilic and West Ham managed to tie him to a long term deal worth £125,000-a-week. It is a 5 and a half year deal that will see Payet stay at West Ham till 2021, but that has not stopped clubs from trying to sign him in January.
However, with a mediocre start to the current Premier League season, it is now revealed that there is a doubt over his future at the club and it is reported that he might be open for a move in January.
Speaking to the media recently, Payet revealed the he is open to all the options and that he is not really thinking about the transfer window at the moment.
Talking about his team’s poor start to the season, Payet said, “We’ve had a very poor start. Leave in January? I’m asking other questions right now but I’ve closed the door to nothing.”
With just 3 victories from 11 games his season, the Hammers are very close to the drop zone and will need to find some spark quickly to move up the points table.
Payet also went on to talk about his future and hinted that he may actually be leaving West Ham this January.
Speaking about his priorities before choosing a club, Payet said, “Until now, I always chose my clubs depending on the sports project. I work like that. Until I can play at a level like this, it will be the case.
“Go to PSG or Marseille? For now, they have not come to me, so I do not ask myself.”
It comes as a big blow for the Hammers who just cannot afford to lose their star player, especially after their mediocre start to the season.
Having also been nominated for the Ballon d’Or, the 29-year old will know that it is high time for him to play at a successful club and it does not come as a surprise that a number of Premier League clubs along with a few in France are interested in his signature.
Having scored a couple of goals, and also picked up 5 assists, Payet, is a top class player and can walk into most Premier League squads in his current form.
Do you think Payet will play at West Ham come the end of the season?
