Tottenham defender Djed Spence’s sister took a dig at Antonio Conte after his side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby. Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka were on target for the Gunners, as Harry Kane was on the score-sheet for Spurs. However, the highlight of the game was Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal’s sending-off, which resulted in a huge blow to Conte’s side.

Arsenal bagged their third goal after Tottenham were reduced to 10-men, which closed all doors for a possible comeback from the Lilywhites. Spence, who was benched by Conte for Emerson looked disappointed as he still failed to manage some minutes after the Brazilian’s red card in the 62nd minute. The former Middlesbrough man’s sister however didn’t shy away from expressing her anger in a quirky way at the Tottenham boss.

Spence has so far found playing minutes hard to come by under Antonio Conte

Djed Spence was part of Tottenham’s bulky business this summer as the club welcomed six signings spending over £120 million. Antonio Conte also asked for a new right-back apart from Matt Doherty and Emerson, who was signed last summer from Barcelona for £22 million. Spurs as a result went for Spence, paying Middlesbrough £13 million for his acquisition. The right-back had helped Nottingham to Premier League promotion last season while on loan, making 39 appearances in the Championship scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists.

The 21-year-old arrived in North London with much hype, but has failed to challenge Emerson and Doherty for the starting spot. Conte has handed the youngster just a minute this season, bringing him off the bench in the clash against his former side Nottingham back in August. The Italian had already stated that he needs his new signings to convince him in the training sessions and up their fitness to his required levels in order to make it to his starting eleven.

It seems however that Spence is the only one who hasn’t convinced him yet amongst the new signings. The right-back was a brilliant player for Nottingham last season, completing a more dribbles [76] and creating more chances [40] than all of Tottenham’s right-backs combined. He still has found himself on the bench for 8 of Tottenham’s 10 games this season, and completely out of the match-day squad on 2 instances. The youngster’s sister didn’t seem happy about the fact that her brother was once again left on the bench in favour for Emerson by Antonio Conte.

On the other hand, Conte had stated last week that he needs “Spence to play games” in order to be a regular under him.

So far, it hasn’t been the case of the £13 million-man who is struggling to earn more minutes. However, Tottenham face a busy month ahead with 8 more games coming up as Antonio Conte will definitely keep shuffling his pack to ensure his squad remains fit and fresh. Spence could as a result rack up some minutes under his belt and would surely look to impress his gaffer.
