Two English giants battle out for Russian star of Real Madrid
Real Madrid’s Russian winger Denis Cheryshev has attracted interests from Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool this summer. The wing wizard will have a hard time to become a first team starter at Santiago Bernabeu this season ahead of superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Isco.
The Russian winger admitted last month he was unsure over his future, saying: “I don’t know where I’ll be next season.”
Cheryshev, who graduated from Real Madrid youth academy, spent the last season on loan at Villareal where he provided 9 assists along with 4 goals from 26 La Liga appearances.
Liverpool has been linked heavily with the wideman throughout the summer and after the departure of Raheem sterling, the links grew stronger.
But now Arsene Wenger is going to battle with his counterpart at Merseyside Brendan Rodgers for the signature of the 24 year old according to AS Diario.
Arsenal have been dealt a blow regarding Alexis Sanchez, after it emerged the attacker’s application for a visa has been delayed.
The 26-year-old had to put off his return to the UK and will miss the Gunner’s opener against West Ham on August 9.
He was scheduled to be at Arsenal’s training ground in London Colney yesterday to start pre-season training but is now expected to return later this week.
AS claims that, the North London side is set to launch a bid in the region of £15million for the winger.
With two big clubs in England battling out each other for the fleet footed winger, it will be interesting to see where the future lies for the talented winger.
