UCL round-up 27th September: Real Madrid held to a draw by Dortmund!

On Tuesday (27/09/2016) night in the UCL, defending champion Real Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw against the hosts Borussia Dortmund. On the other hand, Juventus hammered the hosts Dinamo Zagreb by 4-0 while Tottenham Hotspur clinched their first victory in the UCL 2016/17. Also, Leicester City narrowly beat Porto.
Despite taking the lead twice versus the hosts, Real Madrid failed to beat Borussia Dortmund in the Group F encounter as the match ended a 2-2 draw. Cristiano Ronaldo put ahead visitors at 17 minutes while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised the scoreline just before the half-time (43’) with the help of Navas’ mistake. In the 68 minutes, Varane once again took ahead of the visitors but they failed to defend that as Andre Schurrle scored for the Dortmund in the 87th minute of the match.
In another Group F match, Sporting Lisbon beat the visitors Legia Warsaw by 2-0. Bryan Ruiz (28′) and Bas Dost (37′) scored the goals for Lisbon.
In the Group E matches, Tottenham Hotspur beat the hosts CSKA Moscow by 1-0 while Monaco held a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen.
Spurs clinched their first victory in the current UCL season after beating the hosts CSKA Moscow with the only goal from Son Heung-Min at 71 minutes.
On the other hand, visitors Bayern Leverkusen took the lead over the hosts Monaco at 73 minutes with the help of former Manchester United player Javier Hernandez’s header. But the hosts’ centre-back Kamil Glik spoiled the visitors’ party after scoring the goal for the hosts at the final injury minute of the match.
In the Group H encounter, Juventus slammed the hosts Dinamo Zagreb by 4-0. Miralem Pjanic scored the first goal for the visitors at 24 minutes and then followed by Gonzalo Higuain (31′), Paulo Dybala (57′) and Dani Alves (85′).
On the other hand, Europa League champion Sevilla beat the visitors Lyon by 1-0 in the other Group H clash. Wissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla) scored the only goal of the match at 52 minutes.
Meanwhile, hosts Leicester City beat Porto by 1-0 in the Group G encounter while Copenhagen clinched a big victory over Club Brugge in the same group encounter.
The English Premier League champion Leicester City narrowly won against the visitors Porto by 1-0. Islam Slimani scored the goal for the hosts at 25 minutes.
In the other group match, hosts Copenhagen beat the visitors Brugge by 4-0. After the first half ended 0-0, visitors’ Stefano Denswil opened the scoreline for Copenhagen with an own goal in the secondphalf. Then the hosts added 3 more goals which were scored by Thomas Delaney (64′), Federico Santander (69′) and Zanka (90’+2′).
