UEFA WC Qualifiers round-up: Germany, England clinch victories; Lewandowski’s hat-trick secured Poland’s 3 points

On Saturday (08/10/2016) of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification from UEFA zone, Germany beat the Czech Republic with the help of Muller’s double while Poland beat Denmark with the help of Lewandowski’s hat-trick. Also, England defeated Malta by 2-0 on the same day.

In the Group C encounter, Germany beat the Czech Republic 3-0 with the help of Thomas Muller’s double. In the same group match, Northern Ireland also beat 10-man San Marino by 4-0 and Azerbaijan edged Norway by 1-0.

Germany and Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller’s double helped the hosts Germany to beat the Czech Republic by 3-0. Muller opened the scoreline in 13 minutes as Germany took 1-0 lead over the visitors. At the end of the first-half, the scoreline was 1-0 in the favour of the hosts.

In the 4th minute of the second half, Toni Kroos added another goal for Germany. Muller netted for the second time in the match in 65 minutes from a good cross of Jonas Hector. Further, there was no more goal added to the scoreline as Germany clinched a very comfortable 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic.

Hosts Northern Ireland beat San Marino by 4-0 as Kyle Lafferty scored a brace in this match. In the 26th minute, Steven Davis put the hosts ahead by 1-0 after successfully converting a penalty. In 49 minutes, visitors’ midfielder Mirko Palazzi was sent off after he was shown second yellow card. Palazzi was booked for the first time in the match at 33 minutes.

Lafferty scored his first goal in this match in 79 minutes and then followed by Jamie Ward in 85 minutes. In the very final minute of injury time, Lafferty successfully scored another goal in this match.

With the help of Maksim Medvedev’s goal in 11 minutes of the match, hosts Azerbaijan beat Norway by 1-0.

In the Group E clashes, Lewandowski’s hat-trick helped Poland to beat Denmark by 3-2 while Romania and Montenegro thrashed Armenia and Kazakhstan respectively.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoreline in 20 minutes as the hosts Poland went ahead by 1-0. In the 36th minute, Poland made it 2-0 after Lewandowski scored from a penalty. On the 2nd minute of the second half, Lewandowski completed his hat-trick. Just 2 minutes later, Kamil Glik’s own goal opened the scoreline for Denmark in this match. In the 69 minutes, Yussuf Poulsen scored for the Denmark as the scoreline showed 3-2 and match became interesting on the pitch. However, Denmark failed to score any other goal until the end of the match as Poland secured a victory by 3-2 at the end of the match.

Romania thrashed the 10-man hosts Armenia by 5-0. Armenian midfielder Gor Malakyan was shown an early red card in the match just 3 minutes into the game for a handball into the penalty box, which also resulted in a penalty for the Romania. Bogdan Stancu scored from that penalty and put Romania ahead by 1-0. After that Adrian Popa (10′), Razvan Marin (11′), Nicolae Stanciu (29′) and Alexandru Chipciu (59′) scored for the visitors.

On the other hand, hosts Montenegro also defeated Kazakhstan by 5-0. The five goal-scorers for Montenegro were: Zarko Tomasevic (24′), Nikola Vukcevic (59′), Stevan Jovetic (64′), Fatos Beqiraj (73′) and Stefan Savic (78′).

In the Group F matches, England beat Malta by 2-0 while Slovenia beat Slovakia by 1-0 and Scotland were held to a 1-1 draw against Lithuania.

Hosts England clinched a 2-0 victory over Malta with the help of Daniel Sturridge and Dele Alli’s goals in 29 minutes and 38 minutes respectively.

In another match, hosts Slovenia beat Slovakia with the only goal from Rok Kronaveter in 74 minutes.

Scotland vs Lithuania match ended a 1-1 draw. Fedor Chernykh put the visitors Lithuania ahead on 59 minutes of the match. James McArthur’s late goal in 89 minutes equalised the scoreline for the hosts.
