Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have now entered that time of the year where their domestic season comes to a thrashing halt.

The Gunners are known for throwing their decent start to the season with some ordinary performances after the turn of the year and this season has been no different.

They have now lost back to back matches in the domestic league, the last of the list coming against fellow title favorites Chelsea and this loss has seen the Gunners fall down in the points table.

They are currently in the 4th place in the table, 12 points off Chelsea and will know that they have to be at their to entertain any chance of getting close to the summit.

The Gunners were humiliated across town at the Stamford Bridge not so long ago and this loss seems to have affected the fans, the players and also the manager.

In a recent interview with the media, Arsene Wenger, came out with comments that will anger most Arsenal fans.

The Frenchman, speaking about the defeat against Chelsea, felt that it was important for his fanbase to back his team up and that the Arsenal fans should stop being so demanding.

“Of course, our fans have been consistent and have a high level of expectation, as I have as well,” Wenger said.

“But I don’t feel it is absolutely clear.

“You cannot be a fan until last Tuesday and not be a fan anymore and not be behind the team this Saturday. It doesn’t make sense,” he added.

He went on to say that though the fans of every club in the league have high expectations on the team, it was important for them to get behind them during hard times.

“All the other clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, they have big expectations and big history. We are in a fight and we have to be united or we have no chance.

In a bid to earn back the trust of the Arsenal faithful, Wenger went on to point out that Tottenham Hotspur fans are also starting to believe that they can go all the way and that it has been missing from the Arsenal fanbase recently.

“You have Tottenham as well and everyone is behind their team and we have to do the same. Even if we have had two disappointing results I want the fans to be behind the team. Focus on what we do well,” Wenger added, asking his club’s fans to follow their footsteps.

Not many Arsenal fans would want to learn anything from a Spurs fan but Wenger will hope that his comments will give him the required atmosphere at the Emirates for the remaining games this season.
