Denmark and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Christian Eriksen says the players of Tottenham have sparked the FIFA World Cup 2018 and proved the club builds top talents.
Nine Tottenham players reached the semifinals in Russia.
Nine Spurs players reached the semifinals in Russia, while captain Hugo Lloris went on to win the World Cup with France for the first time in 20 years.
Christian Eriksen himself had a tournament to remember with Denmark and believes his club can bring out the best of the players. He said during training for the International Champions Cup match,
“If you look at the number of players we had at the World Cup and showing who they are as players, it’s been a very successful thing. We had nine players in the semis, which means of course that our team out here is different to what it would usually be. But the World Cup is definitely a good place to show that when you’re at Tottenham, you can be a top player.”
One of the Tottenham players who played a massive role for England was Kieran Trippier. He certainly caught an eye with his dead-ball deliveries and the free kick against Croatia was a goal to remember.
Forgetting the World Cup, Eriksen is now ready to take on the new challenges in the next season.
“Of course he is welcome [to take some],” the 26-year-old said. “If he thinks he can score then he can take some. But I do think it’ll be a close call. I do think I’ll claim it first, but he can definitely have a go.“
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men won 1-0 against AC Milan in their International Champions Cup clash on Wednesday. N’ Koudou’s goal was enough to seal the victory for the English club.
Tottenham’s first match in the English Premier League will be against Newcastle United on 11 August.
