Chris Jordan of England has joined the Mumbai Indians squad as a replacement player for the ongoing IPL 2023 tournament, ESPNCricinfo reported on April 30, 2023. MI is currently at the 9th spot in the IPL point table with 3 wins from 7 matches and 6 points.
Mumbai Indians have a lot of problems in the ongoing edition of IPL, as their pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson are injured. Their pace attack looks completely weakened after the departure of these two pace bowlers. And on top of that, England pacer Jofra Archer has supposedly experienced trouble in his elbow.
Mumbai Indians have suffered as a result as they have been forced to field an inexperienced Indian pace attack comprising Arjun Tendulkar, and then Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith, and others.
Riley Meredith himself came as a replacement player for injured Jhye Richardson, who was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a hamstring injury and undergoing surgery for the same.
Chris Jordan Joins MI As A Replacement Player
Chris Jordan has been part of the Indian Premier League for multiple franchises in the past. He has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is a seasoned T20 campaigner who has all the skills of a bowler and can wield the long handle as well.
Notably, the official announcement is yet to come and interestingly, there is suspense over who is Jordan replacing in the MI squad.
The rest of the bowling attack is thin on experience and Jordan’s arrival might just change things for the side. Jordan has already joined the squad as he was spotted with the players ahead of the RR clash at the Wankhede Stadium.
