12-09-2017 UCL Round-Up: Barcelona Takes A Sweet Revenge Against Juventus; Manchester United, PSG, Bayern Munich Claimed Easy Victories 1

Group D

Barcelona 3 (Lionel Messi 45′ & 69′; Ivan Rakitic 56′) – Juventus 0

Barcelona clinched a sweet revenge against Juventus as the Catalan hosts beat the Italian side by 3-0.

Last season’s UCL runners-up Juventus failed to display their familiar status in the opening game of this UCL season. From the beginning of the high-voltage encounter, Barcelona was desperate to take the revenge against Juventus from their last UCL meetings, where Juventus had beaten them 3-0 on aggregate (3-0 at Allianz Stadium & 0-0 at Camp Nou) in the Quarter-final of the 2016/17 UCL season.

Just before the end of the first half, Lionel Messi broke the deadlock for Barcelona. After playing a quick one-two with Suarez, Messi found the net with a fine low strike.

On 56 minutes, Rakitic doubled the lead for Barcelona. Messi scored another goal on 69 minutes as Barcelona confirmed their victory.

Olympiakos 2 (Felipe Pardo 89′ & 90’+3’) – Sporting CP 3 (Seydou Doumbia 2′; Gelson Martins 13′; Bruno Fernandes 43′)

Sporting CP beat the hosts Olympiakos by 3-2. The visitors took a 3-0 lead in the first half while hosts’ forward Felipe Pardo scored twice for his team at the late moment, but those attempts were not enough for them at the end.

Seydou Doumbia scored the opening goal for Sporting CP through a header after just 70 seconds of the match. Gelson Martins (13′) and Bruno Fernandes (43′) scored the two more goals for Sporting CP in that first half.

When it was looking like that the visitors would win comfortably, Felipe Pardo scored two back-to-back goals in the very late moment (89’ and 90’+3’). However, Pedro’s efforts were not enough to secure at least a point for the hosts.
