The group stage of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup came to an end on Friday and with it culminated arguably the best and most competitive group stages in the history of the tournament.
The group stage witnessed highly competitive games throughout as a number of underdogs punched above their weight to beat their fancied opponents. At the same time, several heavyweights failed to do well in the competition and bowed out at the group stage.

The likes of Germany, Uruguay, Belgium are some of the teams that failed to make it to the knockouts while the likes of Morocco, South Korea, Australia have enjoyed fairytale run so far.
2022 FIFA World Cup – Fixtures for Round of 16:
The stage is now all set for a thrilling Round of 16 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The top two teams from each of the 8 groups have made it to the first knockout round of the competition.
Netherlands, England, Argentina, France, Japan, Morocco, Brazil and Portugal have qualified as the winners of their respective group while Senegal, USA, Poland, Australia, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland and South Korea have made it to the Round of 16 as runners-up of their respective group.

As per the rules of the tournament, the second-placed finishers of each group will take on the winners of the subsequent group and vice versa. So as 2022 FIFA World Cup is all set for its first knockout round, here are the fixtures for the Round of 16 stage:
