5 Things That Were Different In The WWE One Year Ago 1

The landscape of pro-wrestling can change at an unthinkable pace. One year ago this day, WWE was completely different in many ways as compared in 2019. We are on the road to WrestleMania 35 which paves the way for the biggest event of the year. This is the time when we can clearly see the difference in compared to last year.

WWE discovers a female Roman Reigns

Here are the 5 things that changed the WWE scene drastically compared to last year,

Daniel Bryan was still unable to wrestle

We could hardly believe to see Daniel Bryan back into the squared circle for wrestling, ever again. WWE stuck to their motto of not clearing him for more than two years after the anticipated moment came. Just prior to Wrestlemania 34, the announcement came that WWE doctors have just allowed him to be back in the wrestling ring, again. Since then, he has come a long way and picked up the ultimate goal behind his return i.e. WWE Championship. Currently, he is the meanest heel there on Smackdown Live which is another big surprise. We did not expect the universal babyface to change his character, ever. But it did happen for the betterment of Bryan’s career.

Roman Reigns was the top guy on the roster

Roman Reigns was the franchise player in the WWE since the year 2015. Ever since he wrestled Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31, the company named the yard to him. He was the poster figure with his face postered on the billboards, merchandises and everywhere else needed.

Update on Roman Reigns’ condition

This changed by the end of 2018 where Roman Reigns had to leave the company on an emergency basis. The Big Dog who used to run the yard is nowhere near to return as he is battling cancer. Leukemia is the disease that he is dealing with that has no timeline to return. This left the company in a high and dry state where the top guy is missing.

Ronda Rousey was still to compete in a match

Ronda Rousey did arrive in the WWE back at Royal Rumble 2018 by this time but we did not expect this much from her. There was a doubt of whether she could match up to the style of the pro-wrestling world coming from the MMA. But she proved all the haters wrong showcasing the killer moves which is a matchup to none. The baddest woman on the planet got fit to her name, perfectly during the reign of women’s championship. Now she is looking forward to coming up with another unthinkable i.e. conquering the main event of Wrestlemania.

Asuka had an undefeated streak

WWE had produced another undefeated streak to make up the Undertaker’s, starting from 2015. Asuka was the one to set a record of her own while being on NXT as well as on the main roster. This took her straight for the inaugural Royal Rumble win and the Wrestlemania title match, thereafter. Then Charlotte Flair made the ‘impossible task possible’ by defeating Asuka. Not only she shattered the streak but also forced the Empress of Tomorrow to tap out to the Figure Eight. Although Asuka is the current champion on Smackdown, she can barely overcome from that devastating loss.

Becky Lynch vs. Stephanie McMahon to happen

Becky Lynch did not have a clue about her career

Nobody could ever think of a second version of the Stone Cold like persona until Becky Lynch arrived. The heel-turn back at Summerslam 2018 came as a welcoming surprise to the fans. It was much-needed for the betterment of Lynch’s career. The historic Evolution the Last Woman Standing woman cam thereafter that earned her the gimmick of The Man. The rest is history as she has now become the most popular superstar of this generation. Her craze is so much that WWE does not have to put much effort to set up the first-ever women’s Wrestlemania main event. She has already established herself as the most must-see name of the industry.
