AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie rejects contract offer from Tottenham Hotspur

Franck Kessie has rejected a contract offer from Tottenham Hotspur and to stay at San Siro till this summer, the best news for AC Milan fans in this transfer window. AC Milan are focusing on winning the Serie A title this season and Kessie will be a key for them in the next four months. Also, Italian giants now have more time to convince the player to extend his contract beyond the summer.

AC Milan lost star player Ginaluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu last summer on free transfer. The club has lost other key players on a free transfer in recent years as well, after failing to extend their contracts with improved wages. This may be one of the reasons for their sharp decline in Serie A standings. But manager Stefano Pioli guided Milan to the title challenge last season where they finished in 2nd position, 12 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

This season Rossoneri are once again battling it out with their neighbours for the Serie A title as they sit just 4 points behind leaders Nerazzurri after 13 matches. Milan are definitely on the rise in Italian football but they need to hold on to their key players leaving for the direct rivals. Hakan Calhanoglu joined Inter Milan and has been one of the best players in the league this season, same goes for Matteo De Sciglio and Manuel Locatelli, who are in impressive form at Juventus.

Franck Kessie Rejects Tottenham Contract After Both Clubs Agreed Transfer Fee:

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is a big admirer of the 25-year-old Ivorian box-to-box midfielder and was keen on signing him this month. Spurs made a cut-price transfer offer for Kessie at the start of this month and Milan accepted it after their failed attempt to convince the player to sign a contract extension. But now Calciomercato reports that Kessie has rejected the contract offer after his call with Tottenham Hotspur technical director Fabio Patrici.

The report states that the player is willing to stay out at AC Milan who are chasing the Serie A title and he will totally be committed to that clause. This is a big blow for Tottenham Hotspur who are already in discussion to let go of their midfield player Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli to make a place for Franck Kessie. Tottenham Hotspur are also in discussion with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible player swap deal involving midfielders Ndombele and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Arsenal and Real Madrid were also shown strong interest in Franck Kessie this month but all the suitors will now be preparing for a summer deal for Kessie if AC Milan fail to extend his contract in the next five months. Kessie scored 13 league goals last season and has scored 5 goals already in 16 Serie A starts this season.
