The Pakistan Cricket Team has rejected their captain Sarfraz Ahmed’s suggestion of allowing families to travel with the team for the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Sarfraz, who has been named as the captain of the side, had mooted to the Pakistan board to allow wives and children to travel with players.

However, the families of the Pakistan players will be permitted to be them for the five-match ODI series against England. In fact, the official has revealed that the decision is taken so that the players remains focus on the job at hand in the upcoming World Cup.

Sarfraz Ahmed thought otherwise.

“Yes, there was a suggestion from the captain and players that they should be allowed to have their wives and children with them in England during the World Cup, but the Board has not allowed this,” according to a PCB official as quoted by PTI.

“This decision has been taken by the team management,” he said.

On the other hand, Sarfraz Ahmed, who had led Pakistan to Champions Trophy glory believes that the players will be relaxed if they get to spend time with their families. However, it is not going to be the case.

In an interview with a TV channel, Sarfraz had said, “The World Cup and our tour of England is a long one. I believe that even cricketing wise it helps a player relax if his family is with him.

“When a player returns to his room after a day’s tensions and pressure it helps to have your family. A player wants to relax and unwind after a hard day. In Pakistan, we can go out with our friends and relatives to relax but we can’t get that atmosphere abroad. So I think if you have your wife and children you can focus on them and spend time with them and this helps you relax mentally for the next day as well.”

Pakistan has already named its World Cup squad. However, Mohammed Amir has failed to break into the 15-members list. Pakistan will play one T20I and five-match ODI series against England which will kickstart from May 5.

Subsequently, they will play their warm-up matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against Windies on 31st May.
