Men in Blue have taken a 1-0 lead against Pat Cummins-led side in the four-test match series by beating them by an inning and 132 runs in the Nagpur test.

Indian team star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recalled his father’s early advice in his career that ‘Chamchagiri’ (Appeasement) doesn’t take anybody far in his/her career.

Jadeja was declared player of the match in the first test match of the series, he scored 70 runs and took seven wickets in the Nagpur test match. The left-arm spinner was returning for his national side in the longer format since last played in July 2022.

34-year-old Ravindra Jadeja expressed he doesn’t like being called ‘sir’ –

People should call me by my name. That is enough. I hate being called Sir. If you wish, call me Bapu, that’s what I like. This Sir-Var, I don’t like at all. Actually, it just doesn’t register when people call me Sir” said Jadeja.

We address each other with respect. It is always ‘Aap’ or ‘Bapu’. That’s my culture, that’s what the people around me do. Whether you know someone or not, if you are from the community, you address them as Bapu. You could be young or old, but respect is important” added Jadeja.

In an old interview, the left-handed batter once said that it was former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who started the trend of saying ‘ sir Ravindra Jadeja’ in 2013.

Jadeja and Dhoni were teammates for CSK, Indian veteran Dhoni handed over the captaincy of the side to the all-rounder Jadeja in IPL 2022. It is expected in IPL 16 (2023) that former Indian wicketkeeper Dhoni will lead the side and Jadeja will be the vice-captain for the season.

The Jamnagar-born Jadeja recalled his father’s advice when he was early in his career-

When I started playing cricket, my father gave me a very important advice. At that point, I didn’t even know that I will be playing cricket seriously, forget playing for the country. He told me ‘it’s your performance on the ground that matters“, said Ravindra Jadeja.

If I perform on the field, I wouldn’t have to do anything (to appease anybody), the rest will automatically flow. So for me, it has been simple. If I perform on the ground, I don’t have to go out of the way to please people” he further added.

The star all-rounder Jadeja is just one wicket away from taking 250 wickets in the oldest format of cricket, he has 249 wickets in 61 test matches for India.

The demolisher of the Aussie side in the last test match will surely be looking to perform and achieve this feat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Rohit Sharma-led side will be looking to take a 2-0 lead against the Baggy Greens side to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time.
